This week’s Magic Number is 9695, up marginally from 9691 last week. To calculate a player’s Break Even (BE) use the following formula:- BE = ((Player’s current salary ÷ magic number) x 3) – sum (last score + 2nd last score) e.g. Hynes = ((964800 ÷ 9695) x 3 ) – sum (160 + 142) = -3
With a BE of 94 and a game against Souths this round, probably not a bad time to bring Cleary in. As Gibbo has mentioned ^^^, SJ’s draw gets tougher from next week. Obviously, Cleary’s origin involvement is a slight negative.

A decision to be made at Hooker. Trades at a premium with all the injuries this year but Lussick (53mins) looks a sell. Brailey the step down for cash and OK points. JMK (plays byes) and Grant (origin but about to fire) are the keeper options. Robson my other hooker.
With Papenhuyzen and Walsh at FB I can’t justify any change there.
Lane (or Strange) to Nikora is tempting. Smithies, Strange & RTS can stay for now I guess…
If you want Jayden Brailey then this week is the time to get him with a BE of 5. I would be trading out Strange (BE of 103) ahead of Lane (BE of 55) who is on the bye this week anyway.
As you said with trades at a premium with all the injuries this year I would be inclined to pass on Brailey and go straight to a keeper. Both Grant (51) and JMK (45) have very attainable BEs this week. Good luck deciding which one suits your team best (although I don’t think you can go wrong with either to be honest).
Good Stat that. I think JMK gets more points than grant over the next 11 weeks over the origin period. Storm sitting at top of ladder means weeks off and early knock offs.

Trai Fuller (BE: -123) about to make a truckload of cash. Only available at FLB. Has another two games before Hammer returns + R13 (assuming Hammer plays origin). What are coaches doing?
Very tempting short term cash grab if you aren’t already stacked at FLB but I wouldn’t be trading out a keeper if you two keepers at FLB which a lot of players seem to have.
I would love to bring him in for the cash grab, but I am going Smithies – Plath and Strange – Garrick / Isaako and I don’t want to miss out on either of those trades at current prices.
I am holding for 1 more week but the time to sell was 2 weeks ago. Only holding because of other fires and he should go better if DCE isn’t doing everything.
No probs. If you don’t already have them I rate both Angus and Plath. Even though both have already risen significantly in price I still think they are good value and will still make more cash and score well.
Agree on Plath and Angus … both have value … kikau is also been in form, McInnes been consistent… west of the field is nanai with good upcoming matches (not for me … just putting it out there) … but rather any of the above as they play bye rnds …
Also need to get rid of Trell May … TMM, mayb SJ… buys considering… Cleary, Plath, or FRF … where is the value? Get Plath for TMM… coz Plath will rise $ more than Trell might lose $ ?
I don’t have FRF DPP for Trell to Plath …
Or get Cleary as he might go bonkers … cash and points ?
Or is my 4th boost also in order to get Plath or upgrade Trell May
First trade is nice, Terrell seems to be more of a priority trade out than TMM & SJ for you. SJ with a good matchup this week so no rush to get in Cleary, TMM to Plath will make money for you but not much, maybe less than 100k, is that trade worth it in your eyes? May upgrade to AFB/Tapine seems the way to go, Fainu if you’re looking to downgrade
I could go May to Haas but would like to hold May, my feeling is that he is being rested now because of the bye period where he will have to play a lot of minutes. He will lose a lot of cash but he could by my no 3 FRF till the end which means his cash loss is meaningless. My likely high risk move. Besides half my team is going to lose money this round and I can’t trade them all.
Was looking to trade Strange > Holmes this week but Terrell May has become an issue. I can boost and do Strange + May + Brown > Val + AFB + sub 415k 5/8. Is it okay to trade out D Brown & run Galvin as 5/8 for the next 3-4 games in order to facilitate those trades? Team below: Robson | Lussick Curran | May | Henry | Hughes KPP | Crichton | Fermor | Lane | Smithies | Chan Hynes | Cleary Brown | Galvin Isaako | Garrick | DWZ | May | Strange | Iro | Talagi… Read more »
Yeah was looking at Gray but not sure if he keeps his spot when Latrell returns, Weekes probably a safer option. Won’t be playing either in my 17 usually
What about someone a bit cheaper than Val and bring in Plath for Galvin $447,400, Dual 2rf/ 5/8. Will make money BE -28.
Val BE 107. Could get him next week.
Not a bad idea but I’m not really looking to make cash atm and Galvin has a great draw till R16. Just trying to bring in guns & get rid of my sub 30 scorers Kazza.
I’ve got similar players, have b you thought of Smithies or Lane to Plath to help cash out Terrell to AFB? I haven’t dune the sums…but looking at it from a different angle
Galvin scary but possible. Dogs Knights Dolphins. You very possibly get away with it but no surprise if you don’t. If brown were playing this week I would be thinking about bringing him in. He looks to me to be close to a big score. His 3 rnd av is 70. He hasn’t been as good as expected.
Good luck with whatever you decide. We also need to save some trades but this doesn’t look like the week unless your team is real good.
The spot has been his since Gilbert went down so he has great job security. It’s only really Flegler that could possibly affect his minutes but that seems pretty unlikely now that his battling an injury and origin also.
Biggest concern for me with Plath is that Dolphins largely use him as a ball distributor (and second half – and he doesn’t commit the line defenders either) and a tackle bot (I traded him in last week) – so he rarely runs the ball and gets TB’s, offloads etc … his score inflated in last ten minutes with players off and injuries on the weekend when he finally ran it several times. He is a chance of a sneaky try and blew one (TA) on the weekend by not passing to an unmarked runner beside him and throwing a… Read more »

Have already done Strange – Fuller. Have 1million in the bank so need to spend it.
May – Hazelton/AFB. (Decision beginning of last week and changed mind)
Lussick/Api – Grant. Get him in and hold over origin.
Schiller – Xerri/Kiraz/DGagai
Could boost and do 2. 2 already used.
Api Lussick
Curren May Hughes Henry
EKat KPP Crichton Smithies Fainu Chan
Hynes Cleary
Brown Galvin
Lomax RTS Schiller Bostock Iro May Talagi
Paps Fuller
Your trade to Fuller No. 1
I would go AFB(gun) over Hazelton.
Also, the trade i did last week, Api to JMK, because he plays all the major bye rounds.
Just my 2 bobs worth, Kazza.
With some of the NSW origin players we don’t know who they will be. This season to me is playing very different to what we know, I have no idea what to do except that I have made too many trades and not improved my team enough or made enough cash. I mostly don’t use all my boosts as a boost is also an extra trade, we need to be saving trades. To me a boost means 2 trades need to be saved. A question for everyone please.
Now it is so close to origin are we still trading in origin players, especially if they have low BEs, and holding over origin?
I am not sure what the best strategy is.
Now that it’s only 13 players that score in rounds 13,16 and 19 we can afford to have a few extra origin players. I think 14,17 and 20 will catch a few of us out. I would have a look what players will be on a bye on those rounds and then take out your origin players on the presumption they won’t back up and see if you can field 17.
Holding players due to them playing bye have ruined me … Lane, Strange, smithies, lussick, Trell May, henry… i don’t think it’s worth holding them for their 40ish points… as their points scoring have just dried up … add the injury list from previous rounds … my trades are disappearing quick too … and I cap turbo instead of hynes … only thing getting bigger is my ranking … I don’t even want to check my blood pressure…
Obvious trade outs are Frf May, Schiller and Strange. Considering them to AFB, Plath. Aitken. I looked at Fifi but Origin and the fact I would have to get a middling player I’m leaning going AFB. Also like Aitken’s base and that he plays all 3 buys. Thoughts?
Go with your heart – I’ve gone Nikora, because I couldn’t afford Fifita, and because I think they’re starting to gel now (the Sharks’ attack with Nicho and Co.) But you’ve gotta go with your own instinct, or you’ll feel really bad if you make the wrong decision! 😉
its no coincidence that the Sharks (and Nicho) look much better now with Nicho out …
Have to also consider, if Blues have any commonsense, they pick Nicho at 5/8th … and what impact does that then have on Sharks? …(that said, no doubt they pic Luai to keep club connections together and Cleary want Luai I guess …)
I’d go Nikora quite confidently. He’s a proven gun, and the Sharks look like they’re playing their best footy now. He’s got a lot of upside to catch up on I reckon, in a 80 minute try-scoring 2RF.
The only thing is that the Sharks run coming up is as tough as it gets after this weekend.
Thanks guys – I’m inclined just to go with him, and if he weathers the sh**-storm of the next 4 rounds then he may prove to be a tidy attack-weapon! (Famous last words! Hahaha!) Cheers fellas (goes to Bunnys56 too!).
We’ll see what happens. 😉
Just looked at the Storm’s upcoming draw. Looks flipping amazing, but they get the week off in R13 and R19.
Juicy juicy – now I dunno about the Nikora shift. 🙁

Garrick has the upside, the kicking, and the longevity (won’t play Origin hopefully!) – he’s got everything going for him I guess – except DCE & Guacamole being out for a couple of weeks! Get him while he’s cheap! 🙂
Hard to really say without knowing who your other options are for them.
For DCE, wait and see what happens with a possible downgrade.
Both are top players so if you can cover then it’ll save you a few trades
Strange and Schiller to Garrick and JGagai.
This week’s Magic Number is 9695, up marginally from 9691 last week.
To calculate a player’s Break Even (BE) use the following formula:-
BE = ((Player’s current salary ÷ magic number) x 3) – sum (last score + 2nd last score)
e.g. Hynes = ((964800 ÷ 9695) x 3 ) – sum (160 + 142) = -3
Wrapped to see trade talk back also!
SJ too Cleary or hold firm?
I’ll probably hold this week, tough draw after that
With a BE of 94 and a game against Souths this round, probably not a bad time to bring Cleary in.

Yeah just undecided about Brailey or save a trade and straight to a keeper Hooker. Good point about Lane/Strange.

Both Grant (51) and JMK (45) have very attainable BEs this week. Good luck deciding which one suits your team best (although I don’t think you can go wrong with either to be honest).
Mmm… Grant owned by nearly 40% up the pointy end. JMK nearly 10%. To POD or not to POD.
I am buying. I have Iro at FB ready for Drinky. But am now bringing in Fuller. Selling Strange with 103 BE.
That is gold if u can get fuller … majority coaches will miss out …
I would love to bring him in for the cash grab, but I am going Smithies – Plath and Strange – Garrick / Isaako and I don’t want to miss out on either of those trades at current prices.
Smithies – Plath a great trade. Depending on 5/8 can be moved down if need be to a Fifita type later on.
Yes, aiming for Dfif next week but probably trading out Chan.
Is Brooks a hold or sell?
Not doing great but dce out could mean something…?
I am holding for 1 more week but the time to sell was 2 weeks ago. Only holding because of other fires and he should go better if DCE isn’t doing everything.
Best FRF/2RF under 660.9k?
I am assuming you are after a dual FRF/2RF in which case I would have Curran slightly ahead of Cotter as Cotter likely for Origin imo.
My mistake, poor context. I’m after a May replacement and can grab a FRF or 2RF. I do have Curran already.
Piakura also another option
Thanks all, I’ve got a gut feeling about Kikau
1st trade: strange to Garrick
Also need to get rid of Trell May … TMM, mayb SJ… buys considering… Cleary, Plath, or FRF … where is the value? Get Plath for TMM… coz Plath will rise $ more than Trell might lose $ ?
I don’t have FRF DPP for Trell to Plath …

Noise is they might keep Gray at FB, if lateral moves to CTW and Jack to 5/8… might even score bench spot … if otherwise

Brown has a 3rd avg if 70 his not going too bad. I’m not sure it’s worth using a boost to get rid of him.
Yeah I agree, just can’t find another way to do the trades I want. Might just downgrade May to Fainu & save the boost
I’ve got similar players, have b you thought of Smithies or Lane to Plath to help cash out Terrell to AFB? I haven’t dune the sums…but looking at it from a different angle
Actually have enough in the bank to do May to AFB in 1 trade, but not enough to do Strange to a gun CTW.

Havent been watching the dolphins games. What is the verdict on Plath? How long is he likely to keep his spot and those minutes? cheers

First two. AFB and Plath for me
Would you keep Schiller then?
For the byes only. He can go big if Canberra get lucky
Won’t Aitken cover all of them anyway? Schiller will be losing money if he doesn’t perform, which will happen more often than not without Fogarty
Ola took the early guilty plea but DCE will challenge the grading
A successful downgrading for DCE means he plays this round. Failure to downgrade = 3 weeks out.
Nikora or Blore? I know Nikora covers first bye but I feel like Blore has more upside next to Munster and better base

Yeah, at that price he’s a must for me. So much upside in workrate, tries and goal kicking. And even if Turbo is not there, he goes FB.
Hey lads,
Bit of a conundrum here and need advice, I have both Olakauatu & DCE. Do I hold or trade out?
Tough one … think both should play origin too… but if u can cover hold Ola
Hard to really say without knowing who your other options are for them.
For DCE, wait and see what happens with a possible downgrade.
Both are top players so if you can cover then it’ll save you a few trades
yeah true! I feel like i should hold them but then again, I could use hynes or cleary
My current team is
Api/Kenny
AFB/Cotter/Hughes
Katoa/KPP/Olakauatu/Smithies/Chan
SJ/DCE
Strange/Galvin
Lomax/Muitalo/RTS/Iro/Schiller/Burbo
Edwards/Walsh
Team looks good.
Would only look at upgrading a hooker and/or 5/8, otherwise you already have enough to field a decent 17
Thanks mate! Appreciate it!
Left a lot of pts in C pick Cleary like many others. Still went up 500 places Rank 21k
Cashing out Schiller / Ponga > Plath / Fuller
$895K in the bank
Good stuff mate – you could pick up DFifi by trading out a dirt price cheapie (V Fifi>DFifi – who’d have thought?)
I have rubbery plans for that money ! Waiting to see what shakes leading into the byes.
