Wenin’s Teams Analysis – Round 15

If you’ve read JT’s Weekend Roundup, then you will be well acquainted with my absolute disaster of a weekend trade wise. If you haven’t read it (but you really should), here is JT’s version below….

That was until SC Talk founder Weninrome sent through an absolute beauty of his own doing straight after that. All set at the start of the round to turf Adam Doueihi and Daine Laurie, who scored a grand total of about 30 points this week and were great tradeouts, for Cody Walker and Alex Johnston who scored a fair few more. Instead, he had a few too many on Saturday afternoon, missed the lockout for the Bunnies game and had to scramble from there. That made him move on Nathan Brown (77) and Daine Laurie for Corey Harawira-Naera (56 and taken off for an HIA) and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (announced as being signed by the Warriors on Sunday morning and scratched from the Bulldogs’ game this week). I mean, that’s an all-time turnaround. Lesson learned, kids. Don’t drink Stone & Woods. If anyone can work out the points that has cost him, I would greatly appreciate it. His AE was Saab.

Yep, that’s a season-ender right there. I completely panicked on Saturday night and made the two trades as highlighted above when in reality, I should have held. All in all, the few beers on a Saturday afternoon and the missed lockout cost me approximately 180 points and will also result in me being about $200k worst off after my trades this week. That 180 points would have seen me finish with a score of circa 1,332.

Ah well, that is SuperCoach and just to be safe, I have already made my trades for this round :).

And with that, we move along to the round 15 teams.

BRONCOS v RABBITOHS

Thursday, 7.50pm, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane

Broncos: 1. Tesi Niu 2. Xavier Coates 3. Herbie Farnworth 4. Jesse Arthurs 5. Selwyn Cobbo 6. Karmichael Hunt 7. Tyson Gamble 8. Matt Lodge 9. Jake Turpin 10. Payne Haas 11. Alex Glenn 12. Tevita Pangai Junior 13. Thomas Flegler

Reserves: 18. Cory Paix 19. Jordan Riki 20. Rhys Kennedy 21. Dale Copley

Injuries:

  • Albert Kelly (hamstring, round 16-17)
  • Rhys Kennedy (infection, round 15)
  • Kotoni Staggs (suspension, round 16)
  • Brodie Croft (knee, round 16-17)
  • Anthony Milford (knee, round 18)
  • Ben Te’o (biceps, round 18)
  • Patrick Carrigan (knee, season)

Ins

  • Jordan Riki
  • Rhys Kennedy
  • Xavier Coates

Outs

Teams Analysis

Tesi Nui starts at fullback with Jamayne Isaako still on the outer. Xavier Coates is back, seeing Dale Copley relegated to the reserves.

The Broncos are pretty much irrelevant at this stage given that they have their bye round ahead and are a complete mess.

I wouldn’t be going near Selwyn Cobbo as he could become an AE issue later down the track.

Rabbitohs: 1. Latrell Mitchell 2. Alex Johnston 3. Dane Gagai 4. Campbell Graham 5. Taane Milne 6. Cody Walker 7. Adam Reynolds 8. Mark Nicholls 9. Damien Cook 10. Tevita Tatola 11. Keaon Koloamatangi 12. Jai Arrow 13. Cam Murray

Bench: 14. Braidon Burns 15. Hame Sele 16. Thomas Burgess 17. Jacob Host

Reserves: 18. Blake Taaffe 19. Liam Knight 20. Josh Mansour 21. Jaydn Su’A

Injuries:

  • Jaxson Paulo (wrist, round 15)
  • Brock Gardner (Achilles, indefinite)

Ins

  • Cameron Murray
  • Damien Cook
  • Dane Gagai
  • Jai Arrow
  • Josh Mansour

Outs

  • Benji Marshall
  • Peter Mamouzelos

Teams Analysis

Damien Cook, Cameron Murray, Dane Gagai and Jai Arrow all return. Benji Marshall drops out and Braidon Burns slides to the bench.

Alex Johnston delivered with a three-try performance and now sits priced at $554k. A BE of -71 and a fixture against the wooden spoon favourites makes him pretty close to a must-have this week. Yes, that initial value is gone, but I will be sucking it up and coughing up the big bucks for him before a run of games against the Broncos, Tigers, Cowboys, Bulldogs and St George. He could hit $750k plus, and you definitely don’t want to be watching on the sidelines here.

Cody Walker is another great buy with huge value in his current price and a tasty round of fixtures ahead.

Damien Cook and Latrell Mitchell are also decent options despite missing round 17. Cook in particular is exceptional value.

COWBOYS v SHARKS

Friday, 6pm, QCB Stadium, Townsville

Cowboys: 1. Valentine Holmes 2. Kyle Feldt 3. Javid Bowen 4. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 5. Murray Taulagi 6. Scott Drinkwater 7. Tom Dearden 8. Coen Hess 9. Reece Robson 10. Jordan McLean 11. Shane Wright 12. Mitch Dunn 13. Jason Taumalolo

Bench: 14. Jake Granville 15. Tom Gilbert 16. Lachlan Burr 17. Francis Molo

Reserves: 18. Peter Hola 19. Daejarn Asi 20. Kane Bradley 21. Corey Jensen

Injuries:

  • Mitch Dunn (suspension, round 15)
  • Connelly Lemuelu (thumb, round 18)
  • Reuben Cotter (foot, round 19-20)
  • Ben Hampton (pectoral, round 19-21)

Ins

  • Corey Jensen
  • Kane Bradley
  • Kyle Feldt
  • Mitchell Dunn

Outs

Justin O’Neill

Teams Analysis

The only SuperCoach relevant change here is the return of Coen Hess to the starting side, which sees Tom Gilbert drop to the bench.

Scott Drinkwater’s past month has been super with scores of 103, 80, 62 and 77. However, he is now priced at $539k and is a risk given the Cowboys face South’s, Sydney and Melbourne between rounds 17 – 19, plus you will have to trade him out at some stage.

Jason Taumalolo is still not an option with his scores nowhere near keeper level. However, his price will be very tempting come round 17.

Sharks: 1. Will Kennedy 2. Connor Tracey 3. Will Chambers 4. Jesse Ramien 5. Ronaldo Mulitalo 6. Matt Moylan 7. Shaun Johnson 8. Aiden Tolman 9. Blayke Brailey 10. Aaron Woods 11. Briton Nikora 12. Siosifa Talakai 13. Toby Rudolf

Bench: 14. Braydon Trindall 15. Teig Wilton 16. Jack Williams 17. Andrew Fifita

Reserves: 18. Billy Magoulias 19. Chad Townsend 20. Braden Hamlin-Uele 21. Sione Katoa

Injuries:

  • Wade Graham (knee/head knock, TBC)
  • Jackson Ferris (foot, round 15)
  • Braden Hamlin-Uele (ankle, round 15-16)
  • Royce Hunt (knee, indefinite)

Ins

  • Billy Magoulias
  • Braden Hamlin-Uele
  • Chad Townsend
  • Sione Katoa

Outs

Wade Graham

Teams Analysis

Sadly, another head knock for Wade Graham sees him not named and it’s unclear when he will be back. Siosifa Talakai replaces him on the edge, but Teig Wilton is on the bench so I wouldn’t be trading him in just yet. Talakai also has a BE of 80 this round – but keep watch.

Whether it be this week or next, it’s Shaun Johnson time. As long as he stays fit and healthy (which is a big if), he is a keeper at either HFB or 5/8 and has a cracking draw ahead, including a mouthwatering match-up against the Broncos next weekend. He is priced at under $500k and that’s a bargain.

Jesse Ramien remains a very solid option and is a trade in this week with a BE of 17.

PANTHERS v ROOSTERS

Friday, 7.55pm, BlueBet Stadium, Penrith

Panthers: 1. Dylan Edwards 2. Charlie Staines 3. Stephen Crichton 4. Matt Burton 5. Brian To’o 6. Jarome Luai 7. Nathan Cleary 8. Moses Leota 9. Api Koroisau 10. James Fisher-Harris 11. Liam Martin 12. Kurt Capewell 13. Isaah Yeo

Bench: 14. Mitch Kenny 15. Scott Sorensen 16. Matthew Eisenhuth 17. Izack Tago

Reserves: 18. Spencer Leniu 19. J’maine Hopgood 20. Tyrone May 21. Brent Naden

Injuries:

Ins

  • Brian To’o

  • Jarome Luai
  • Kurt Capewell
  • Nathan Cleary
  • Spencer Leniu

Outs

  • Paul Momirovski
  • Robert Jennings
  • Viliame Kikau

Teams Analysis

The big guns are back and that is good news for SuperCoach. However, this does see Matt Burton shift back to the centres with a tough match-up against the Roosters. He has a BE of 36, so he can be held for one more week if needed or a trade to Shaun Johnson/Cody Walker makes sense.

Viliame Kikau is out with an ankle injury and should be moved on by frustrated owners.

Roosters: 1. James Tedesco 2. Daniel Tupou 3. Josh Morris 4. Joseph Manu 5. Matt Ikuvalu 6. Lachlan Lam 7. Sam Walker 8. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves 9. Adam Keighran 10. Siosiua Taukeiaho 11. Angus Crichton 12. Sitili Tupouniua 13. Isaac Liu

Bench: 14. Sam Verrills 15. Egan Butcher 16. Daniel Suluka-Fifita 17. Fletcher Baker

Reserves: 18. Tuku Hau Tapuha 19. Ben Thomas 20. Billy Smith 21. Joseph Suaalii

Injuries:

  • Freddy Lussick (arm, round 15)
  • Victor Radley (suspension, round 16)
  • Drew Hutchison (ribs/lung, indefinite)
  • Nat Butcher (ankle, indefinite)
  • Billy Smith (shoulder, mid-season)
  • Luke Keary (knee, season)
  • Lindsay Collins (knee, season)

Ins

  • Billy Smith
  • James Tedesco
  • Sam Verrills
  • Siosiua Taukeiaho
  • Tuku Hau Tapuha

Outs

  • Ben Marschke
  • Brad Abbey

Teams Analysis

James Tedesco returns, seeing Joseph Suaalii dropping to the reserves and Joseph Manu to the centres. Sam Walker has been named despite suffering a shoulder injury in round 14.

With Boyd Cordner announcing his retirement this week, Sitili Tupouniua is a solid option for round 17 and the run home. At $517k, you’ve missed the initial value, but he’s still well priced, given he is likely to play 80 minutes on the edge for the Roosters to close out the season.

Matt Ikuvalu returned to form with a couple of tries and is priced at just $476k. Given the match-up against the Panthers and the Storm, you could wait until round 17, where the Roosters face the Bulldogs.

KNIGHTS v WARRIORS

Saturday, 3pm, McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle

Knights: 1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Dom Young 3. Kurt Mann 4. Enari Tuala 5. Hymel Hunt 6. Jake Clifford 7. Mitchell Pearce 8. Jacob Saifiti 9. Jayden Brailey 10. Daniel Saifiti 11. Lachlan Fitzgibbon 12. Brodie Jones 13. Mitchell Barnett

Bench: 14. Connor Watson 15. David Klemmer 16. Sauaso Sue 17. Jack Johns

Reserves: 18. Josh King 19. Matt Croker 20. Brayden Musgrove 21. Tex Hoy

Injuries:

  • Bradman Best (ankle, TBC)
  • Chris Randall (wrist, round 16)
  • Tyson Frizell (ankle, round 18)
  • Hymel Hunt (hamstring, indefinite)
  • Edrick Lee (foot, indefinite)
  • Pasami Saulo (leg, season)

Ins

  • Brayden Musgrove
  • David Klemmer
  • Hymel Hunt
  • Kalyn Ponga
  • Mitchell Pearce

Outs

  • Bradman Best
  • Gehamat Shibasaki

Teams Analysis

Kalyn Ponga joins the long list of guns returning this round. He is a very much welcomed inclusion for the Knights.

Bradman Best suffered a serious ankle injury and will likely miss the next two months. What a shocker of a trade that was for me.

Mitch Barnett and Connor Watson can be traded out with plenty of options available. If you hold, then I would be avoiding playing them in your 17 this round.

Warriors: 1. Reece Walsh 2. Marcelo Montoya 3. Rocco Berry 4. Euan Aitken 5. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 6. Kodi Nikorima 7. Sean O’Sullivan 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Jazz Tevaga 10. Ben Murdoch-Masila 11. Bayley Sironen 12. Tohu Harris 13. Josh Curran

Bench: 14. Eliesa Katoa 15. Leeson Ah Mau 16. Bunty Afoa 17. Kane Evans

Reserves: 18. Edward Kosi 20. Jack Murchie 21. Adam Pompey 23. Taniela Otukolo

Injuries:

  • Wayde Egan (head knock, TBC)
  • Tom Ale (ankle, round 15)
  • Adam Pompey (suspension, round 15)
  • David Fusitu’a (hamstring, indefinite)
  • Peta Hiku (shoulder, season)

Ins

  • Adam Pompey
  • Eliesa Katoa
  • Reece Walsh
  • Rocco Berry
  • Sean O’Sullivan
  • Taniela Otukolo

Outs

  • Chanel Harris-Tavita
  • Ken Maumalo
  • Wayde Egan

Teams Analysis

Reece Walsh returns from suspension, seeing Roger Tuivasa-Sheck shifting to the wing.

Jazz Tevaga starts at hooker with Wayde Egan out due to a head knock. Tevaga is cheap, but his spot in the starting team is dubious.

There is no Dallin Watene-Zelezniak in this team yet, so Rocco Berry returns to the side in the centres.

Addin Fonua-Blake returns to the starting prop role and is going to be very cheap soon. He has a BE of 123 and is priced at $465k. I will probably be jumping on him just before round 17.

Tohu Harris has had a down couple of weeks with scores of 58 and 57. He is still a buy before round 17, but with a BE of 108, it’s probably worth waiting until the Super Trade week unless you’re desperate for numbers this weekend.

Josh Curran played 58 minutes at lock and has been named there again. He scored 49 points, which included a TC.

DRAGONS v RAIDERS

Saturday, 5.30pm, WIN Stadium, Wollongong

Dragons: 1. Matt Dufty 2. Cody Ramsey 3. Brayden Wiliame 4. Gerard Beale 5. Mikaele Ravalawa 6. Corey Norman 7. Ben Hunt 8. Blake Lawrie 9. Andrew McCullough 10. Paul Vaughan 11. Tariq Sims 12. Jack Bird 13. Jackson Ford

Bench: 14. Talatau Amone 15. Josh Kerr 16. Daniel Alvaro 17. Jack de Belin

Reserves: 18. Adam Clune 19. Poasa Faamausili 20. Tyrell Sloan 21. Zac Lomax

Injuries:

  • Cameron McInnes (knee, season)

Ins

Teams Analysis

Zac Lomax is a chance to return as he has been named in the reserves.

Nothing else of interest here for me.

Raiders: 1. Bailey Simonsson 2. Semi Valemei 3. Sebastian Kris 4. Matt Timoko 5. Jordan Rapana 6. Jack Wighton 7. Sam Williams 8. Josh Papalii 9. Josh Hodgson 10. Dunamis Lui 11. Corey Harawira-Naera 12. Elliott Whitehead 13. Ryan Sutton

Bench: 14. Tom Starling 15. Emre Guler 16. Sia Soliola 17. Joe Tapine

Reserves: 18. Xavier Savage 19. Hudson Young 20. Matt Frawley 21. Ryan James

Injuries:

  • Ryan James (suspension, round 15)
  • Corey Horsburgh (wrist, round 19-20)
  • Harley Smith-Shields (biceps, round 20)
  • Jarrod Croker (knee, indefinite)

  • Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (neck, season)

Ins

  • Hudson Young
  • Matt Frawley
  • Ryan James
  • Xavier Savage

Outs

Elijah Anderson

Teams Analysis

No changes for the Raiders, including Corey Harawira-Naera, who has been named despite a HIA suffered last in round 14. He remains a buy and was all set for a big score before I cursed him.

Bailey Simonsson stared at fullback and is a candidate to once again start in your 17 this weekend against the Dragons.

Matthew Timoko has been named in the centres again and has one more game before he is on the bubble. He’s a could be a cut-priced CTW option but also a possible AE issue going forward.

STORM v TIGERS

Saturday, 7.35pm, Sunshine Coast Stadium

Storm: 1. Nicho Hynes 2. George Jennings 3. Reimis Smith 4. Justin Olam 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Cam Munster 7. Jahrome Hughes 8. Nelson Asofa-Solomona 9. Brandon Smith 10. Christian Welch 11. Felise Kaufusi 12. Tom Eisenhuth 13. Dale Finucane

Bench: 14. Harry Grant 15. Tui Kamikamica 16. Chris Lewis 17. Aaron Pene

Reserves: 18. Jordan Grant 19. Cooper Johns 20. Trent Loiero 21. Dean Ieremia

Injuries:

  • Ryley Jacks (concussion, round 15)
  • Brenko Lee (calf, round 15)
  • Darryn Schonig (knee, round 15-17)
  • Ryan Papenhuyzen (concussion, indefinite)
  • Tyson Smoothy (knee, indefinite)
  • Max King (Achilles, indefinite)

Ins

  • Christian Welch
  • Cooper Johns
  • George Jennings
  • Jordan Grant
  • Nelson Asofa-Solomona

Outs

  • Jesse Bromwich
  • Marion Seve

Teams Analysis

Christian Welch returns and Trent Loiero drops out for George Jennings in the SuperCoach relevant changes for the Storm.

Ryan Papenhuyzen could be back next weekend, which means that people need to start thinking about what to do with Nicho Hynes. He has a BE this round of over 170 but faces the Tigers and could beat that. I will have to move him on a week earlier than planned thanks to my senior’s moment last Saturday. This now becomes a game that I cannot watch – keep me in high spirits, the great people of Springfield.

Harry Grant is a solid option for those looking to get rid of Connor Watson or Jayden Brailey, but I am happy to wait until round 18/19.

Tigers: 1. Daine Laurie 2. David Nofoaluma 3. Tommy Talau 4. James Roberts 5. Ken Maumalo 6. Moses Mbye 7. Luke Brooks 8. James Tamou 9. Jacob Liddle 10. Alex Twal 11. Luke Garner 12. Luciano Leilua 13. Joe Ofahengaue

Bench: 14. Stefano Utoikamanu 15. Shawn Blore 16. Tom Amone 17. Alex Seyfarth

Reserves: 18. Michael Chee-Kam 19. Kelma Tuilagi 20. Fetalaiga Pauga 21. Jake Simpkin

Injuries:

  • Adam Doueihi (head knock, round 16)
  • Tommy Talau (shoulder, TBC)
  • Moses Mbye (knee, round 15)
  • Jake Simpkin (calf, round 14)
  • Zac Cini (ankle, round 14)
  • Thomas Mikaele (knee, round 15-16)
  • Russell Packer (knee, indefinite)
  • Asu Kepaoa (knee, season)

Ins

  • Fetalaiga Pauga
  • Jake Simpkin
  • Kelma Tuilagi
  • Ken Maumalo
  • Moses Mbye

Outs

  • Adam Doueihi
  • Billy Walters

Teams Analysis

Ken Maumalo will make his debut for the Tigers but this mid-season transfer rules him out as an option given that the Tigers have an upcoming bye. He also faces the Storm two weeks in a row…. Adam Doueihi is out with a head knock and the wheels have well and truly fallen off. I WILL BE TRADING HIM TO CODY WALKER THIS TIME.

Daine Laurie and David Nofoaluma owners have a decision to make and I think both can be moved on. I traded Laurie to Dallin Watene-Zelezniak last weekend, but let’s not talk about that..

EELS v BULLDOGS

Sunday, 2pm, Bankwest Stadium, Parramatta

Eels: 1. Clint Gutherson 2. Sean Russell 3. Tom Opacic 4. Waqa Blake 5. Haze Dunster 6. Dylan Brown 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Reagan Campbell-Gillard 9. Joey Lussick 10. Junior Paulo 11. Isaiah Papali’i 12. Ryan Matterson 13. Nathan Brown

Bench: 14. Marata Niukore 15. Shaun Lane 16. Keegan Hipgrave 17. Nathaniel Roache

Reserves: 18. Oregan Kaufusi 19. Blake Ferguson 20. Blake Ferguson 21. Jakob Arthur

Ins

  • Blake Ferguson
  • Jakob Arthur
  • Keegan Hipgrave
  • Nathaniel Roache
  • Sean Russell

Outs

  • Maika Sivo
  • Will Smith

Teams Analysis

Maika Sivo is out suspended but it is not Blake Ferguson who replaces him with Sean Russell set to make his debut.

Clint Gutherson is an obvious captain option this weekend.

Bulldogs: 1. Nick Meaney 2. Nick Cotric 3. Will Hopoate 4. Aaron Schoupp 5. Tuipulotu Katoa 6. Brandon Wakeham 7. Jake Averillo 8. Jack Hetherington 9. Jeremy Marshall-King 10. Luke Thompson 11. Adam Elliott 12. Matt Doorey 13. Josh Jackson

Bench: 14. Sione Katoa 15. Dylan Napa 16. Ava Seumanufagai 17. Corey Waddell

Reserves: 19. Kyle Flanagan 20. Joe Stimson 21. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 22. Jackson Topine

Injuries:

  • Lachlan Lewis (ribs, round 15)
  • Brad Deitz (hamstring, round 15)
  • Corey Allan (shoulder, round 15)
  • Jayden Okunbor (knee, round 16)
  • Raymond Faitala-Mariner (foot, round 18-22)
  • Christian Crichton (knee, season)

Ins

  • Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
  • Jackson Topine
  • Joe Stimson

Teams Analysis

Nick Meaney stays at fullback with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak added to the reserves but unlikely to play given the mooted transfer to the Warriors. I’ll be holding Watene-Zelezniak in the hope that he plays 17 and scores me ten thousand points.

Despite their upcoming bye coverage, I am not too keen on most of of the Bulldog’s players. Luke Thompson can be traded in just before round 17.

TITANS v SEA EAGLES

Sunday, 4.05pm, Cbus Super Stadium, Gold Coast

Titans: 1. Jayden Campbell 2. Greg Marzhew 3. Brian Kelly 4. Patrick Herbert 5. Phillip Sami 6. Ash Taylor 7. Jamal Fogarty 8. Jarrod Wallace 9. Erin Clark 10. Moeaki Fotuaika 11. Sam Stone 12. David Fifita 13. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui

  • Mitch Rein (shoulder, round 15)
  • Sam Lisone (pectoral, round 15)

Outs

Teams Analysis

Moeaki Fotuaika, David Fifita and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui all return to the starting line up. AJ Brimson has been named in the reserves and could be a late addition.

David Fifita will hopefully leak plenty of cash now following his 47 points in just 34 minutes last weekend.

Sea Eagles: 1. Tom Trbojevic 2. Jason Saab 3. Brad Parker 4. Morgan Harper 5. Reuben Garrick 6. Kieran Foran 7. Daly Cherry-Evans 8. Taniela Paseka 9. Lachlan Croker 10. Marty Taupau 11. Haumole Olakau’atu 12. Karl Lawton 13. Jake Trbojevic

Bench: 14. Dylan Walker 15. Ben Trbojevic 16. Sean Keppie 17. Toafofoa Sipley

Reserves: 18. Moses Suli 19. Tevita Funa 20. Christian Tuipulotu 21. Kurt De Luis

Injuries:

  • Toafofoa Sipley (head knock, TBC)
  • Josh Schuster (calf, round 16)
  • Sean Keppie (suspension, round 15)
  • Tevita Funa (suspension, round 15)
  • Curtis Sironen (knee, round 16)

Teams Analysis

Tom Trbojevic returns and will probably be the most popular captain pick for the round. Reuben Garrick shifts back to the wing and Brad Parker moves into the centres.

There were some huge scores for the Sea Eagles in round 14, with three players cracking the big 100, while another five scored over 60 points. Of the most interest is Garrick, but he is priced at a ridiculous $685k, while Martin Taupau looks like a solid pick at $561k (on the money, JT).

I will be starting Jason Saab this weekend.

Condolences on the bad round, Wenin. It’s only three players in my league giving up that has kept me in the race this year.

Thoughts on Lawton? Was looking at bringing in Cook but Lawton can shift with Brandon Smith and plays 17

Great read.
I can sympathise with Nofo and best the last two weeks
