Anyone with BSmith, is it worth looking at JFH or Ipapi around the same price? i could hold until Grant is back but feel the money could be better used elsewhere.
I have Ipap pencilled in atm. He looked good against the Broncos in round 1 and hasn’t put a foot wrong since. Hindsight and all that but I wish I’d brought him in over Collins before round 3. However, Collins starting Ipap not.
My gut tells me that Matto misses another 2 weeks and Ipap looks awesome – even if he has to go back to the bench I think he’s still worth the risk.
In his position alone they have Nikora and Talakai who are pretty good first graders. Teig was great this week but i can’t see him keeping these 2 out long term.
That logic could apply to all your CTW cheapies, so I guess then you upgrade a 2RF? Arrow to a genuine keeper like Tohu/Dfif? Or use duals to move James to 2RF to get a FRF keeper.
Different potential outlooks for each CTW cheapie I reckon. E.g. Fus is a decent player and has hit 450k+ in the past. Downside is he doesn’t get involved much, however is capable of a pie a two in the coming weeks. Saab on the other hand has shocking defence in a struggling team, and I won’t be surprised to see him dropped. Maybe a good cash cow once he improves with age, however unlikely this year.
This gentleman doesn’t have Saab so doesnt directly apply to him – but yes generally speaking I 100% agree. All the other cheapies who have flopped so far still have the potential to fall over the line and get a rise or 2 at some point – but Saab doesn’t even seem close to being able to do that.
It’s really a question of whether you want to hold these struggling cheapies or move them to mid rangers e.g Fergo now before they get too expensive.
If you’re trading for a gun i.e. To’o then it’s fair to upgrade your mid-ranger who has done his job and scored some points for you. Sitilli won’t be a top 5 or 10 like To’o will.
Did you start with Arrow? If you didn’t and bought him, why are you selling now? His scores are roughly all the same so he can’t be doing any worse than you were expecting.
Barnett isn’t a buy anymore for me as he has peaked and likely to lose the gk to Ponga this week.
Or you could flat out sell both Capewell and Cheese for 2 guns. I’d hold Niu personally. His floor has been great the last few weeks. Doubt Souths dominate Broncos like Storm did so better chance for him to snag an attacking stat.
Just a gut feeling about the teams. I’m not saying Souths won’t win but i don’t think it will be anything like 40-6 personally. Brisbane usually turn up vs Souths. Just like how Storm usually turn up vs the Broncos. Something in the vicinity of a 3-4 try win at most is my guess. They also have no Cody.
My observation is that Souths are getting up in the face of their opposition attack really quickly and I just don’t see Broncos handling that.
It almost feels like Souths have a point to prove atm
Cook, reynolds and Latrell are going to completely demolish the Broncos this week. I thought the Broncos were better than their record suggested( even backed them for an upset win last week) but after what I saw against the Storm they are one of the worst sides in the comp even with Haas back. I don’t think Souths will even miss Walker. 42-10
Agree that Souths wont dominate Broncos like the Storm did. That would require Latrell to be backing up 4 times to score which definitely wont happen and the guy who usually does the backing up (Calker) wont be there.
Alot of the damage was done up the middle and south’s pack is pretty good. How many times did nas run up and spin in the tackle to get an offload?
Whoever lines up vs Milford should have a field day
South’s are great in Attack but are they in the storm level of defence and ability to stop the offload. We could see a 40points to 20 sort of game south’s winning of course
What would you do with AFB? any help would be appreciated
$122,800 ITB
Brailey (Watson)
Tino, AFB (Uto, Leniu)
Crichton, Matterson, JFH (Riki, Rjames, Burbo)
Cleary (Walker)
Luai (Schuster)
To’o, Capewell, Laurie, Staines (Niu, Simonsson, Suaalii)
Teddy (Papy)
I’d hold AFB.
You could move on Leniu and play Fish in FRF this week. Gives you the choice of either a 2RF purchase or move Capes up and look for a centre. Depends on how much cash you have after your second trade.
Both looking good to start the year and in great sides. Only difference to me is I think that after the Raiders this week the Panthers have the better draw to the first bye and Momo will play the first bye
Yeh, Saab or that tigers winger Kepoa, add some Simmonson and a dash of Williame, that should help you raise that horrible ranking….

Not really considering him, but for someone who seems so bad in actual NRL a lot of the time, Shibasaki has really good base stats, did last year too. Will likely be played for a while out of shear necessity as well.
As a Saints fan, we have been pretty woeful defensively. Big benefactors of injuries and a soft draw. We will get found out this week without Hunt – wont get smashed, but we will lose and concede 20+.
It is one of those hard ones to ride as an owner, but I actually think he is a buy candidate in the next couple of weeks. He made 37 tackles on the weekend, which is mental for a half. His base is still looking good, he is the only 5/8 gun who will definitely play round 13 (barring injury) and the attacking stats will come (maybe as early as this weekend against the Dragons). I personally will give him a serious consideration in round 7 once Moylan and Schuster have peaked and he has the Broncoes and Dogs back… Read more »
Would definitely sell, although he has good base and better base then calker, luai , Munster , I just don’t see the attacking stats matching those 3 at all and with these new rules and big gaps between the top teams and bottom, you’ve just gotta have those eyes up instinctive five- eighths in top 4 teams and I know d brown has flair but isn’t a focal point of parras attack whereas the other 3 are and tbh I think having both calker and luai is the way to go

Capewell’s scores have been getting saved by the 3 tries he has scored. Is it worth trading him to Fergo?
Surely for a backrower it is. Take the money and run. Can’t be maintained compared to a winger or fullback. If you own kikau I bet you prob sell when he peaks coz you know the games without tries are coming and you lose points and money
But Kikau isn’t sitting in your CTW and I’ll keep happily playing my 3 try Capewell over my zero try Fus, Saab, and Simonsson at least until the first SOO if I can. Hell if 1 try skid stain wasn’t the most likely I wouldn’t be playing him either but I have to pick one
He struggles to crack 40 in 64 mins most weeks without the tries. He’s nearly 500k. You might aswell play a cheapie centre like simonsson who gets minimum 30s and is very due a try.
At 500k it is not great. With 64 minutes he has a floor of 40-45 and unlikely to score above 80 with those minutes more than once. That would leave his average floating in the low to mid 50s. He is priced at around a 54 average so he has pretty much peaked. He won’t be a priority sell but he is an easy ticket to getting a To’o or Fergo who will both out average him by the end of the season, have low b.e’s and much greater upside. It is the week to jump off to reach these far… Read more »
I agree with Dravid… some may remember Capewell scoring 150 or so in a game a few years back when he was the perfect sub during the origin period. It wouldn’t surprise me if one of these scores is just around the corner. A few 45 scores will be easily offset by a 100+ score or 2.
Was in the centres that game. Little bit different. Its why i think his value as a season hold are very low. At edge backrow his attacking opportunities are limited, especially with 65 or less mins. With those funds you can get some very promising backs like To’o/ Holmes who actually have realistic chances at tonning up. You’re laughing if you think hes going to ton up twice let alone once in a game with 65 mins or less. If he gets lucky and plays 80 due to injury it can happen but that isn’t going to happen. I really… Read more »
I can definitely see your fear… I myself am not completely convinced. The panthers seem to target the opposite side to Capewells edge too.
As for playing 80, I think he will play 80 when other injuries call on him too. I can also see more mins against the gun teams.
Regardless I feel he has an eye for the try line and being able to play him at Centre he is a hold for me. I’ve got much bigger problems.

The two obvious Captain options seem to be Teddy v Paps. Which one folks?
After going without Papy this past week I have the cash to turn Latrell into Papy now. I know Souths have a good draw coming up but I’m worried that Cody is out. Plus I’m not sure I could watch Papy destroy the Dogs who were atrocious to FB’s last year. Way back in the rankings now and just don’t want to fall even further behind. Other FB is Teddy.
Luai in for Cody due to his draw and by coverage and Momi in for Niu
Don’t be surprised if Luai makes origin over Cody. Although neither might make it if they run Wighton at 5/8.
Is Luai eligible for NSW? He currently plays for Samoa.
From memory, he was part of the squad last year
That’s good enough I guess. He will probably get a spot then, even if it’s off the bench.
I think it’s starting or nothing for Luai. Papy is a lock for the bench role assuming Teddy is healthy.
Thinking Fui – Cash Cow/Nuf and Averillo – To’o? Unsure there is a better first trade though.
Thanks all.
$194K in Bank. 32 trades.
Brailey Watson*
Tino Welch (Leniu Uto)
Crichton Fifita Barnett Riki* (James Fui)
Cleary (Walker)
C Walker Schuster*
Capewell Laurie Niu Staines (Averillo, Fus, Simmo)
Teddy Paps*
Anyone with BSmith, is it worth looking at JFH or Ipapi around the same price? i could hold until Grant is back but feel the money could be better used elsewhere.
Ipap likely back to bench this week with Matto presumably named and playing. Makes him far less appealing imo.
He’s been playing off the bench when he was still putting up big numbers
Yes 50-60s but not 90s.
So he’s getting a try every week is he?
I have Ipap pencilled in atm. He looked good against the Broncos in round 1 and hasn’t put a foot wrong since. Hindsight and all that but I wish I’d brought him in over Collins before round 3. However, Collins starting Ipap not.
My gut tells me that Matto misses another 2 weeks and Ipap looks awesome – even if he has to go back to the bench I think he’s still worth the risk.
Aren’t we expecting Grant this week?
Holding him until after bulldogs match. Grant could be back but won’t play 80. Looking at other areas of my team and then trading him next week.
Depend on teams i guess. if he is named to start and Cheese on the bench, than it is anyones guess how they run out!
What’s Teig Wilton job security like? Haven’t been gollowing the sharks at all
In his position alone they have Nikora and Talakai who are pretty good first graders. Teig was great this week but i can’t see him keeping these 2 out long term.
Ok, so i have built a bit of a warchest by removing Joe O for blore last week (risky move but what the heck).

Angus, Arrow, Barnett, Riki* (blore, Burbo)
Cleary, (Madden)

Teddy, latrell*
Next week will be most likely S. Walker and Topine in, so where to this week?
Front rowers? Upgrade Riki, add a ctw?
Hit me with it
Id upgrade Fusi
I’m happy to let him sit until he eventually falls over the line.
My plan as well. Manly twice in five weeks, surely he nabs a try and a bit of coin before selling.
Saab on the other hand has shocking defence in a struggling team, and I won’t be surprised to see him dropped. Maybe a good cash cow once he improves with age, however unlikely this year.
Both Saab and Fus deserved to be dropped. Fus was made to look good by SJ. He really hasn’t done anything of years now.
Apologies! Misread “all your CTW cheapies” in the above as “all CTW cheapies”
TU: Tupouniua and Saab —> To’o and 2rf/ctw nuff
TD: Saab —> Mead and save a trade
Mead boat has sailed imo. Not worth 300k. TU is the better scenario.
Is Tupo out long term? If not, whyvwould you get rid of him?
If you’re trading for a gun i.e. To’o then it’s fair to upgrade your mid-ranger who has done his job and scored some points for you. Sitilli won’t be a top 5 or 10 like To’o will.
Arrow > To’o via Capewell, TU or TD?
Did you start with Arrow? If you didn’t and bought him, why are you selling now? His scores are roughly all the same so he can’t be doing any worse than you were expecting.
could easily see him grabbing a pie
I think I know what trades Im after, but just wanted to check with the brain trust
I would love To’o, but don’t thin I can afford him atm.
Current team is
Brailey – Watson*
Tino/Welch – Utoi/Leniu
Crichton/Fifita/Cheese – Riki/James/Fui
Cleary – Walker*
Munster – Schuster*
Bmoz/Capewell/Laurie/Niu – Staines/Simmo/Burbo
Paps – Teddy*
TU: Niu – Fergo & Cheese – Nuff (Riki – Barnett next week)

Comment for a better option I’m not seeing
Cheese to To’o via capewell?

this young bloke named jason saab seems pretty good
He has really channeled his inner Feeney!
Both looking good to start the year and in great sides. Only difference to me is I think that after the Raiders this week the Panthers have the better draw to the first bye and Momo will play the first bye
yea im leaning towards momo for that same reasoning

im trading out currently capewell to JFH and that means riki to either of them

Not really considering him, but for someone who seems so bad in actual NRL a lot of the time, Shibasaki has really good base stats, did last year too. Will likely be played for a while out of shear necessity as well.
They can always drop him for Young who i didn’t think was as bad as some made out. Was only his first game he will get better.
Young did PCL or MCL out a few weeks
Ah that’s a big shame. Didn’t see that put anywhere.
Tough luck, but it keeps my DT loop alive -VC Paps and Captain Teddy it is then.
You can’t VC and C 2 fullbacks
Thoughts on Dyl Brown? I’ve held this far… sell or ride him out?
Parra play broncos/bulldogs in the next month, so I’d be holding in the short term
Also the Dragons…
I gave them benefit of the doubt as they havent been THAT bad, but yes still potential for a decent score there from browny

id say thats a good trade as a fergo owner hes fun to watch he just needs to catch a ball

Can I get a hallelujah
With Sam Walker getting traded in most people should have enough cash to upgrade a CTW donkey to one of the better players shouldn’t they?
That would be for the people that started with Fog/CHT. Alot started Cleary/SWalker.
