i really like Fogarty with the Raiders draw: GCT, PTH, STG, NEW, MNLY, TIGERS. only in 536 teams (0% ownership) ATM, about as PODish as it gets.

Mr Perfect

Has anyone else heard of rumours of some Manly players sitting out this week due to pride jersey conflicting with their beliefs?

juggler

It’s in the DT. Names Aloai, Saab, Tuipolotu. Potentially up to 7 players supposedly.

MonsterH

Hey Guys,

Playing H2H

Who would you sell to bring in Haas?
$69k in the bank & 5 Trade left

Thank You

Mr Perfect

Kikau

MonsterH

Thank You, now H.Olakau’atu is out, should i sell him instead of Kikau to buy Haas?

Sheldon

Your gonna struggle with squad depth mate, I’d be tempted to bring someone in who is gonna make cash.

stormers

No one should be bringing in players to make cash at this stage

BxnB

5 trades left. 47k ITB. Wanted to hold this week but listened to latest NRL Physio re: Cotter’s return and they’ve almost convinced me to sell.

Potential trades
Cotter > Grant
CWalker > Munster

If I make 2 trades I’ll be left feeling low on trades but team should look pretty good with this team, thoughts?

Mckinnes, Grant
Papi, Ofa, Haas, Ming
Crighton, DFifita, Aitken, Tago, Piakura, Hosking
Cleary, Hynes
Brown, Munster
Garrick, To’o, Mulitalo, May, Holmes, GAnderson, JCart
Latrell, Teddy

5k in the bank left…

Zeppelin

Yeah pretty good team but missing Manu and a third gun 2RF. I suppose you could run with Tago in that third 2RF spot and hope he keeps scoring tries. Relying on a panthers player for points isn’t the worst thing to do.

BxnB

Thanks mate. Thinking Manu is the one that got away. I’m not spending 800k on him now especially if he stays in centre. If he moves back to 5/8 or FB I’ll break the bank probably. Agree with the 2RF.

You think 3 trades now is too risky? I’m H2H and in 4th spot

Picking up DCE was a massive fail then

POD

Thinking maybe trading him to Teddy. In two minds though

weebs

I’m gonna have to hold him with trades left. Wondering if I should play him or not though.
He may still score ok.
In your case getting Teddy in is massive

Boris the Blade

Will affect Garrick too!

weebs

Yep! Also got him of course haha and Olak..

jonamco

Huge game for both clubs in terms of making the 8. Teddy and manu could go huge. Probably have to sit Garrick out now.

Sheldon

I hope they make Ian Roberts guest of honor.

The Duke

If I chose not to attend work because of an exhibition or display that ‘offended’ me, citing that as an excuse, at best I’d be suspended without pay or at worst asked to find Miltonian fresh woods, and pastures new.

But I doubt it would be put so lyrically. Or Lycidian, for that matter.

The players who have decided to ‘sit out’ this round should not be paid the money that constitutes this week in their overly large salaries.

Zeppelin

This isn’t a work incident, it is a PR campaign. In any PR campaign all stakeholders are suppose to be consulted. Apparently Manly failed to consult the playing group which just so happen to be a key stakeholder in the Manly footy club.

FWIW i find nice that the players have stood up for their worldview. Maybe Ian Roberts can change his worldview since Roberts boasts “inclusiveness”

Sheldon

Do they consult the playing group about the aboriginal jerseys or Anzac? Are the players consulted about sponsorship? Equality for all, apart from those?

Boomer

Those jerseys have a dedicated round attributed to them. Isn’t this a one off just for Manly? It’s not Pride week is it..
Having said that, it’s just a different Jersey every time. to me, I hate all the different jerseys from week to week. Just give me a home and an away strip. The marketing can be done on polos and other merchandise direct to the public.
How many times does one team look like another.
Gimmicks, that’s all they ever are.

devil

Well said zeppelin.

eldinko

Well said

2bax

that depends entirely on the display or exhibition and what’s important to you.

These players couldn’t care less who anyone has sex with but being forced into the movement is different entirely.

I think the days of caring who’s gay or not has passed for most people. Except maybe for people who are gay..

I’m all for people experessing themselves but don’t force gay pride on me either, thanks.

devil

My thoughts exactly

Karma Keg

This isn’t entirely true. Your workplace would struggle to justify suspending you without pay if you didn’t agree to wear a uniform that was never a requirement of your employment. Religious grounds are used all the time for work matters. I’ve worked with people who couldn’t work Sundays, or who needed prayer breaks during office hours. I don’t agree with their belief regarding homosexuals but it’s rough to mandate someone to do something they feel strongly against. It’s just become a crap show, there were so many other ways they could have done it. Maybe make the jersey a shop… Read more »

DCE2011

Manly management stuffed up here. I’m sure a compromise solution could have been found if this had been handled better from the get-go.

Karma Keg

Agree, I also feel it’s harsh to single out the Manly 7. I guarantee every club would have faced the same thing if they’d created a pride jersey without consulting the playing group. It’s a delicate issue with religion, beliefs and a social cause. It’s a cause that needs to be looked into and the inclusive message is a great one. It just needed to be treated with a little more care and consultation. But now the proverbial genie is out of the bottle and what could have been a great PR stunt for the NRL has become a disaster… Read more »

Boomer

You can guarantee many others clubs are wiping their brow, thinking lucky this wasn’t us. Whether they would have handled it differently we’ll never know.
A Pride round next year may not work either as quite a few players from just about every club may sit out. No simple solution here to be had

Tommy Smurf Sangsta

Pride round? Don’t give those in marketing any ideas!!

As it stands this has been a PR disaster for Manly. Those in Manly marketing should be sacked. They have failed horribly at their jobs.

Tommy Smurf Sangsta

If PVL doesn’t step in and allow those players to play in normal jerseys then I fear for Manly moving forward. Will those players want to play or give all for the jersey and club now?

Ashley Klein is happy this story has taken the spotlight today from him

LB13

Who do I sell for Munster?
TU-Drinkwater
TD-Dyl Brown

titlover

So disappointed I bought him in last week. Drinky

Boris the Blade

I know everyone is big on Holmes this week. He did well last week but I am conerned at the way they are playing. Most sc teams can move players between the halves and fulback with duals. I should have sold Calker last week but didn’t so I’ll probably move him on. But to who? The roosters are killing teams with a vengeance and the Dogs run isn’t too bad.
TU – Val
TD – Burton

What’s the better trade in combo:
TU-Teddy & Hass
TD-Holmes & Murray

JD7

What do you think lads?

Drinky > Ronaldo or Tupou via duels
M.King> Haas

Would leave me with 5 trades for the run home and in line to possibly bring in Tapine next week. Or is it sideways

Current Team before trades is:
Grant/Cheese
Lolo/IPap/Mking/Nuff
Kikau/Angus/Tago/Talakai
Cleary/Hynes
Brown/Munster
May/Garrick/To’o/Lomax/Sivo/Anderson/Nuff
Teddy/Drinkwater

AJW

Hey JT, where’s your roundup this week? Don’t worry about that last minute penulty bud! It has no incidence on the Tigers’ season and having Val’s extra points actually helped some of us this week! Lucky we stuck with Holmes and didn’t go for the Cowboys ‘expert’, and get in Drinkwater! Cheers old mate! 😉

AJW

Sorry ‘penalty’!

Trade out for Munster

TU MAM
TD WALKER

H2H player only

tainejai99

Hey guys ideally wanted to trade out a nuff for a gun, doesn’t look like I have cash to do so. 251k currently ITB gives me 427 when trading out a bottom dollar player. Which other player should I look to trade out? Needing CTW & 2RF
Cook Grant
Tapine Papalii Haas VFififta
LoLo McInnes Crichton Hosking Mooney Howarth
Hynes Cleary
Walker Munster
Tago May Manu Lomax Harris Francis Bijorac
Teddy Mitchell

Hoffa

From what I can see you only have 18 playing players.

How many trades?

Maybe use some of that cash to upgrade nuffs to cash cows that will make quick cash over the next 2 weeks and then flip them.

From your team, I can see downgrade options in Walker(if Cody), Lomax, McInnes and Manu(not ideal but he’s holding a lot of cash)

Alternative is to hold off on trades and use them to swap out players as they get injured/Covid/dropped/rested

tainejai99

Yeah I probably pulled the trigger too early on nuffing, wasn’t sure about grabbing cheapies this late but might not have much option

Brendo_38

Is Tago a trade out with this injury to Luai?

Other CTWs are Manu, Holmes, To’o, Lomax, May & Anderson

HC92

Its a tough one. For me having May/T2o & Tago ive been tossing up who to trade for a while. None seem to let me down enough though. He could be a hold and just see how he goes.

Brendo_38

It would allow me to go Tago to Haas and Walker to Munster so I’m leaning towards doing it as Tago won’t get a start for in CTW or 2RF most weeks

HC92

Yeah i left him out of my lineup last week to loop Teddy and even though he scored it didnt hurt much. If you can get in two keepers for it then i would say why not

Brendo_38

Thanks for the input HC. Much appreciated

Grant Koroisau
IPap Lolo Pole Momoisea

Any other non Manu owners going to go to the movies on Thursday night rather than watching him destroy the Blacktown Workers?

That is one hell of a nervous watch lol

kegs kings

Hardest part is who to capt out of Manu and teddy

Salty Former Owner

If he is playing in the centres I am not too worried. As we have seen with Talakai (ironically against Manly), centres can be defended against if the players do their job, so a big score is not a guarantee. Indeed, that big score might go to someone else (hopefully Teddy).
With Keary and Walker both playing well last round, the game plan may not be ‘just give it to Joey’. Manu may not see as much ball as owners would like.

CoG

Manu cautious after an injury, Ted needs a bludge game to freshen him up. Let the lesser lights shine – Keary, Collins Jwh Radley Verrils etc and Watson.
Was looking at Vc Ted,Sualli but hate thurs night games so i’ll let them run and hopefully score 111 but not enough for a loop

jonamco

Peter vlandys has said there could be a pride round next year. That would have huge ramifications on SuperCoach and I’m all for it. This drama has shown exactly why there is need for this. The comments on Facebook and even on here by some are very disappointing. It’s an ‘Everyone in League’ jersey to promote inclusivity and these 7 are somehow against that message.

jonamco

Also after hearing dce say “there are going to be 17 players out there celebrating inclusiveness and diversity”. I wonder how the playing group will handle a bad loss and it ruining their chances for the finals. Could be some infighting, something to watch for dce, Garrick, olak owners going forward.

Sniper

I agree with this, it could destabilise Manly’s season. I am seriously thinking of going Olakauatu > Nanai plus the fact DCE never passes to Olakauatu, it doesn’t seem like a bad trade.

DCE2011

As a Manly fan, I think the season is done. Roosters will win comfortably and wrap up 8th spot. Like you said, this boycott could create tensions within the playing group. I blame Manly management for the situation.

Karma Keg

I commentated above that it would be interesting to see where these players draw the line. Like are they only standing down because it’s on their jersey, would they support a pride round? Either way, I think if they discussed it with the playing group a little better they could have found a solution. I think a pride round would be great, turn the goal posts rainbow and play with a rainbow ball. You could even colour the field (on TV) so every 10m was a different colour.

SD23

Great suggestions. These are ways to promote LGBTQ without directly implicating the players of Polynesian heritage. Although this initiative is great, it is also understandable that the players may feel they are disrespecting their ancestors by wearing that jersey. True inclusivity is letting everyone live their truth without judgment.

James

Watched his interview, and his comments were specific to an ‘inclusive round’ as opposed to a ‘pride round’ – which IMO are two different things. He continues to speak about how he felt accepted by rugby league despite being a migrant, which is another part of what ‘inclusive’ covers. Rugby league is a game for everyone – irrespective of gender, sexual preference, ethnicity, culture, religion, or age. I can’t see any player or fan disagreeing with a message of “the greatest game for all” that PVL referenced to promote this value, and reinforce that everyone that chooses to be a… Read more »

Karma Keg

See, bounce this around on a footy forum for a few hours and we’ve come up with a 100x better solution to what’s been put in play. An inclusive round is perfect, sends the right message without politicising the issue. As you say, it doesn’t single out a specific group and can be used to cover everyone.

Love it, you should be working at NRL HQ or at least Manly HQ haha.

I want to clarify that I’m all for a pride round. I’m sure there’s been more homosexuals involved with Rugba League than just Ian Roberts and Matt Cecchin.

jnrglover

Good post. I’ve been a little surprised too mate. I’ve been on this site for over a decade and often impressed by the depth and quality of discussion you get in the forum from primarily NRL loving males. But the amount of downvoting on stuff today shows that this is a trigger issue for many still. This issue has definitely highlighted some of the gaps between the NRL, the wider footy community and the general population. I have avoided mainstream media most of this year but chucked it on a bit the last 24 hours, and while there has been… Read more »

Tommy Smurf Sangsta

Paul Kent’s take on this was spot on IMO. In fact 360 raised a lot of excellent points.
Points that are real world related.

Also the general population are dominantly backing the players according to polls. So not sure about this gap.

But wasn’t this supposed to be women in league round?

Magpies4Eva007

Option 1 using 1 trade is Manu to Teddy via Holmes. Depends if you feel Manu’s output decreases at centre.
Option 2 using 2 trades is Downgrade Ming and trade Kiraz to Teddy via Holmes. It really depends on who you would be playing in your 17. I’m guessing both Ming and Kiraz will be outside your 17 most weeks. In this option you still have FRF cover in Pole if needed and you have a playable extra player in Holmes at CTW instead of Kiraz.

Reiddos

Can you do Kiraz > Harris Nuff and then Tago to Teddy via the subsequent duals? Or did you want to hold Tago for the match ups? (your CTW’s are pretty deep IMO) You could also make the tough call to punt someone like Lomax, May or Mulitalo but they all have significant upside.
It doesn’t feel like there’s a silver bullet answer but I’d be inclined to suggest my first two trades!

chooks

manu to ted for me coz manu at centre is not that scary looks like hes centre rest of the year now plus you gain money from this trade

Jeremy WJ

Sitting inside top 200 and wanting to push for top finish I can manage, not worried about H2H leagues. 4 trades left after already using 2 this week (Walker > Munster, Katoa > Holmes). My side is now (starting 17 in bold): Grant / McInnes I.Pap / Haas / Tapine / M.King Murray / Fifita / Harris / Yeo / Tago / Nuff Cleary / Hynes Munster / D.Brown Manu / Garrick / Holmes/ May / Talakai / Tass / Nuff Tedesco / Latrell The only player I want for my final side who I don’t have is Cook. Very good side that I don’t think needs tinkering with, except as you said going Yeo to Cookie, which to most of us is a luxury, but for you it could be a game-changer! Go for it! 😉

AJW

Not tempted to go King to Cook (is Tofu FRF/2RF yet?)? Maybe not possible?

Jeremy WJ

Sadly not, all my 2RF/FRF duals are in the front-row, and my nuff (Hosking) is 2RF only. Yeo feels the most expendable of my 2RFs – neither Talakai nor Tago are amazing, but given the flexibility and cover they provide me in the CTWs I’d like to keep them both.

AJW

Yeah and you can’t have all the bright shiny toys in the shop! Your team is deffo one of the best I’ve seen, for all round quality and back-up! Don’t want to p*** in your pocket, but congrats on that one! 😉

jnrglover

The Finucaine suspension makes McInnes a much better hold IMO.
