Trade Talk – Round 2
As nice as it was to have the footy back, round 1 was a swift reminder of how brutal our game is. Low scores, injuries and just general disappointments. Are you making any trades this week?
Don’t forget – On five occasions this year, SuperCoaches can use a boost feature to gain an extra trade for the weekend.
Meaning, if you’ve used your max trades already (two regular weeks, three on bye weeks) and just need / want another trade for whatever reason, you can hit that boost to get it.
However, you do only have five of the boosts and this still uses one of your original 42 trades. Use them wisely.
Despite my abysmal round 1 (804), not planning on using any trades. I have no injuries and don’t want to pull the trigger out of salt at poor round 1 outings.
I got 876 and I’m of the same opinion. Now is not the time to be rage trading. I just need to make better decisions on who is in the 17. Left Tago (71), Russell (87), Tuilagi (46) out this week as a couple of examples, those points would have been very handy.
You were all over Moses when the Captain’s article came out then maybe just overthought things a bit… but plenty of us did similar silly things. Holding trades now opens up a guilt free trade boost next week so could a smart play.
Mate im kicking myself over the Moses thing. I just didn’t want to be a hero trying to win the comp in r1 by captaining a notorious rocks and diamonds player like Moses, so talked myself out of it and played it “safe” with Teddy, and it backfired haha. Ah well, wont be the only poor C choice I make this year.

Would be Watson to Grant or can take out Billy Smith or Vailea via duals to get Starling and shift Watson to the backrow.
Only if it was B Smith to Grant. You get a free week to see Grant’s role now. Trading a fit player after Rd 1 is a bit crazy. Unless it’s the other B Smith. Grant’s price isn’t changing so give it a week at least.
How long is Hodgo out for? I currently have Watson in my 2nd row but had gone with Garlick as my nuff to swap him around with HK/2nd Row. You’ve opened an interesting trade option I would have otherwise not seen in Luki to Starling.

Woeful score this round – Captain Cheese did not help (I may or may not have cried). Smart money suggests JTB > JKing & Cheese > Grant unless I need to upgrade elsewhere.

I don’t think JTB is a trade out. He only got 1 stink and then was off with a HIA as soon as he came on for his second stint.
That’s fair. Just going off JT’s Roundup saying that there may be a hammy issue for JTB which is always risky. I could pick up Mahoney to avoid the extra trade, just don’t have the funds to make the trade straight up.
I was unaware of the hammy issue. Will keep an eye on that!
Iv got Mahoney myself and his score was disappointing yesterday. Eels have a fairley good draw so hopefully we see some attacking stats. It’s hard to ignore Grant. I guess you need to decide is it worth burning 2 trades to get Grant in

Was very much surprised at seeing 42 trades when I logged on today, was like omg 5 extra trades! I’ll still burn through them too quickly xD
I’m looking at that boost button thinking, “Don’t do it! You can’t afford to do it!”

I’m new to SuperCoach… If players prices don’t change until after Round 3, is it a normal strategy to use a boost after next round and try and buy players who are about to go up in value?
I’m keen to offload Fifita, but was thinking I might grind one more week to see what the landscape looks like.
Also need to drop Russell. But I could bench him and wait for the price change after Round 3?
The boost is new to this year. But I would say it will be common for people to use a Boost after round 2 as that is a crucial round to fix mistakes from your starting team.
Also Russells price won’t change after round 3. Prices change after the player has played 3 games. So his wont change till he comes back from injury and plays another 2 games.
Russell needs to play 3 rounds for his price to change.
This is the first season we’ve had the trade boost so it will be interesting to see how people use it. In saying that if there were a few good cheapies that you don’t have about to get big price rise then yes it would probably be smart to use the boost to get as many as possible. Really depends on how the rest of your team is going and what your strategy is moving forward.

I was thinking of swapping out Russell for Max King (doing position changes amongst my team).
This would leave me with over $100k though… Is that a crime in SuperCoach? I feel like I should try and spend all the money I can each trade.
No having that amount of cash in the bank is no crime. It gives you more flexability to make trades the following week if you have a bit of cash up your sleeve.
Any idea on who the Storm will bring in for Jennings? Wishful thinking maybe another cheapie

i am a bit disapointed with Lucy’s rd 1 score,can anyone shed some light on the reason or reasons for this low score?
I think he hurt himself in the first half when they tackled him from behind. He looked less involved after that. Tigers seemed more keen to attack on the left side of the field as well. Ball wasn’t going his way

My trade/not to trade hinges on what happens on the Eels left wing. How long Russell is out for and who replaces him could be really interesting.
Doubt anything interesing will happen there. Waqa to wing and opacic to come in at ctw seems likely.

No panic trading this week…even with the Blondage style tease of the surge trades. Fifita gets a week, Russell gets swapped for Tago, Staggs will have Reynolds to feed off, and the few Roosters I have cannot play as badly as that again.
a certain coach will be subtly letting them know that this week i will wager.
I remember Keary saying that the quieter the dressing room, the angrier Robbo is. I suspect he was Marcel Marceau at the end of that game.
What to do with billy smith?
I’ll wait to see how the chooks go this week before making a decision. It’ll also depend on whether he passes HIA protocols and is able to play too.
Or just gets dumped regardless.

Fatrell is back this week. Hold for one more week at least, The Munter’s price is not going up this week, and he might be just as bad. Walker is not injured nor will he lose any money.
