Thursday Night Late Mail & Chat – Round 5

This post contains all your Thursday night chat and mail needs. The remainder of the late mail will be posted tomorrow morning and the banner will be revealed Friday evening!

RABBITOHS V BRONCOS, 7:50PM

Rabbitohs: Should be 1-17. Jaxson Paulo and Troy Dugan were cut 24 hours out.

Broncos: Also look to be 1-17, but Cory Paix was the only player to drop out of the 20 man squad.

As I heard in an adult film once, let’s get set to getting it on.

How does a forward pack of Lodge, Haas and TPJ get dominated by an average Souths pack. I don’t get it.

If WB was broncos coach this wouldn’t be happening.

They’re a curious beast. On paper, Souths forwards have no right to play as well as they do. I mean, apart from Murray, Arrow (this year) & Cook who would you have in your pack (I’m a Rooster)? But they hold their own and the backs take it from there and dominate.

I think you are spot on, but I think it is intentional on the recruitment side. You can’t afford stars at every position. They aren’t trying to win games through the middle, so they don’t pay overs for middles who break tackles or throw offloads. They want middles who will cart the ball up and play good defense, use Reynolds kicking game to control field position, and then throw it to their array of backs who can break tackles when they are in position to score. It’s actually a very similar team building strategy to the Storm, so they are… Read more »

They didnt – they were only down 12-6 when they rotated (Haas stayed) and all of the points were Souths carving up the Broncos right edge defence. Honestly, I didnt think either pack really won it, if anything the Broncos got more quick play the balls and looked more mobile. Turpins service from dummy half, Milford and Isaako taking poor late set options and the Broncos edge defense is what cost them the game.

Anyone tempted to loop lazy? I’ve got Teddy and Fifi Jnr but no Pap. Would cop Mead’s 18 and drop SWalker…

If you VC’d Mitchell, you can’t captain Tedesco. Personally I’d take a double score of 122.

I would too Sal, but it’s also very dependent on who else is being replaced. Taking out a 45-50 point scorer to take Mead’s 18 may ruin the point.

Ah yes of course, I knew that but somehow also didn’t . So my only real viable captain options are Fifi and maybe JBrailey. If I’d just left the straight C on Mitchell I wouldn’t be in this predicament! Looping is the safe play as my other captain choices could get knocked out in the first 5, but my opponent has the C on lil papi so I need to play offence and hope for a big captain score without copping Mead’s crap one.

Thanks all!
