“On the off chance you haven’t heard of or come across this exceptional tome, it is an invaluable resource for anyone who is serious about SuperCoach.” Surgebuster.

There’s my quote for your book cover, Alex. You’re welcome!

The Pretender

Hey lads, is there any way to dowload a version at work that is a bit more work website proxy friendly ?

abbaskip

Does neither the Dropbox link above nor the Patreon work?

abbaskip

Alex here guys. Let me know if any questions.

Will have some tutorials out soon for some of the cooler features.

LOTE

Is there a way you could make it on something not microsoft operated? I Can’t access word and excel at the moment.

abbaskip

Na mate. Not easily. Or at least not without redoing a load of it. It has macros for some of the functions, plus a load of formatting that would be lost if I tried to do it online or similar.

And converting it would definitely lose functionality. Sorry.

Inside Ball

An absolutely invaluable resource. Many thanks for the time that went into this.

From one Excel nerd to another, nice work! I just wish it wasn’t so locked down so I could see the fun bits 😛 One suggestion from my brief time of looking at it so far is to not hard code so many of the numbers! Rather have an assumptions/inputs tab where you can put all the variables (such as the decimal numbers hard coded into the multiplier field for example) and use named ranges for these fields. Makes it much easier to adjust the model down the track and tweak it if required as you’re just changing the numbers… Read more »

Hey mate. Cheers for the suggestions. I’ve used the same basic template for 2-3 years, and the formulas always point to the same place, so not really much need for named ranges. The Bible Forecast I’m thinking of redoing from scratch again – and using variables as you suggest (instead of decimals) for impact of each field is something I would likely do if/when I redo it. Regarding INDIRECT, it came down to either that or array formulas – and they required even more processing power and really made things slow down. I only use the INDIRECT to read from… Read more »

I hope you’re proud  pmc086 – I’m redoing now with pivots to see if I can lighten it…means reworking a LOOOAD of formulas

pmc086

Haha… sorry… It wasn’t particularly heavy at the moment but thought it may get that way once the years data starts bulking up a bit… Can’t see the data tables though obviously so I’m speculating… If I’m doing lookups on multiple criteria, I’ll sometimes serialize the data by concatenating multiple columns (e.g. round, player name) in a column on both the data table and my results tables which still allows you the lookup for the particular player on a particular round without having to use the indirect formulas or array formulas. It also allows you to keep the formulas consistent… Read more »

Since we’re dealing with numbers I can usually use SUMIFS rather than having to concatenate lookup values, but that is something I’ve used in the past. Sumifs also allows multidimensional lookups, as does index(match) which I generally use over vlookup in any case. I took the easy way out for now, and I’ve got one sheet with all rounds data, one with the last rounds, and then a round by round pivot of all data – so that I can do rounds and mins each week. To be honest, I made the basic structure probably 5 years ago, and my… Read more »

All updated I think. Will be on next public release next Monday.

Patreons have early access now. Haven’t added variables for Bible Forecast yet – but reworked the forecast slightly.

Just downloaded and about to start filling in my team. Thanks Alex!

Bible link is updated above and on the Patreon for all those using it.

Thanks Alex – I must admit that I am in awe of the Bible, and am a bit of a moron at using it correctly. I have opened it using Open Office, rather than Excel, as I have the ‘2010 Starter version of Excel’, which appears not to have the ‘enable Macros’ function (plus it’s in French, and even though I’m fluent after many years here, taking instructions in English from the Net and then looking for the equivalent sub-menus in French is sometimes infuriating!). Should it be okay in Open Office? AND more importantly, is there any way of… Read more »

abbaskip

Hey mate, some Excel Marcos are fully compatible with Open Office – some aren’t. Only one way to find out – click some of those buttons! The main use of macros is the buttons to fill teams from one sheet to another within the Bible. Another macro also handles colour coding the teams on the BE and Price Projector tab – so if you change a player and the colour of the teams doesn’t update, then the issue is the macro isn’t running. So if you can do without the next 12 week’s teams being colour coded on that tab,… Read more »

Thanks very much Alex. Gonna give it a try!
Always respect you maths-style bods, being of a more literary bent myself! Good luck to you – I’ll support your site no matter whether I get full use of it or not – rather the dollar go to someone like you than the Daily T! Wish SC was run by The Guardian ! 🙂

RTS bible forecast is 0.
Do we just change “injured” to no in order to get the forecast?
Also does it automatically update per week or do we need to download the uploaded file each week?

abbaskip

Changing injured to no should give a player a forecast, correct. In the paid post TLT version, the injured box is ignored, and it’s based on whether theyre selected or not.

You need to DL each week.

Is there a new one of these for 2020?
