iPaps gets the Banner hey – can’t see him being banner material as he is mainly base. So saying the banner will curse him and he’ll be off injured after 17 mins.
now I heard it all… is Andrew Johns for real????
Rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns has proclaimed South Sydney young gun Lachlan Ilias will become a State of Origin and possibly Australian halfback.
It’s not for me to question a player who did it all in he NRL and by all accounts is a genius at dissecting the game. However, his record of who he proclaims destined for greatness is not without fails. Luke Brooks for eg
Id take Tago but if you think the Bunnies go left a bunch and tear up the Broncs then might as well go Taaffe or Tass.

Torn between Schneider and Starling as my last reserve.
Schneider: no Wighton so should have more input with regard to gameplay but may lose the kicking to Croker;
Starling: had been playing well until last week’s shocker and, starting from the bench again this week, who knows what to expect?
Other realistic options are TMM and Tuilagi.
Any advice would be appreciated.
TIA.
But in that instance the FB is normally the sweeper and then centre > winger. That is the exact same play roosters run week n and out. Teddy off the scrum base around the back. Centre draw and pass. Teddy gets the TA every time
Not entirely true – Panthers were the first team to implement that play with Kikau out the back and Tago running the outside in line. Kikau has the TA’s for that particular play multiple times this year.
I own both so no / both dogs in the fight. This TS & LBA has always been given to the fullback no matter how much work is done inside them as they are deemed to create the extra man in the defence & the overlap, which leads to the winger being untouched and scoring.
HOWEVER, who the fark know how they score it this year and Walker or even whoever fed the scrum just as likely based on recent updates…
As a Taaffe owner I’m hoping that it stays as-is but must admit I was surprised! And won’t be shocked if it is changed at final scoring. I think it’s important to stop paying so much attention to the number on the back of the jersey and instead pay attention to the role in the play. The main factor in who gets the TS in a clean backline play is normally based on which player made the ‘final decision’ – i.e. who makes the final decision to either play short, throw behind the decoy, or throw the cutout. The fullback… Read more »
Yeh, totally agree and the fundamental difference between the other (better FB’s) that run similar plays is the fact that they are the one’s creating the space and then play into the 2 v 1. Here Cody created the space and Taaffe just really ran a in-out line creating a catch and pass and pass for a try. I think it is actually setting a very bad precedent (not that scoring has precedents and consistency) if they are just giving based on a number. Today there is such a high % of plays that use players out of ‘position’ and… Read more »
Agree. A CTW draws and passes though as he is always in the same spot in the backline vs the fullback joining in to create the extra number (see a Papi LBA to Meaney over Olam last week in the first half originally awarded to Olam). Taaffe isnt standing inside the winger normally so he has created the extra man by being in this location. His role in this play isnt as a CTW, Graham played his part of the CTW by running the decoy and Taaffe is out the back. Do I think CWalker did more in real life,… Read more »
(Also own both) but I can’t actually see how any sane person looks at that and says Taaffe created the try. He didn’t really sweep was catch and pass. The Paps, teddy plays are all much more involved and cant quite picture the kikau plays, but just don’t see how there isn’t a person looking at that and if they are answering the question of “Who created the try” the answer can only be Cody? IMO that should be the threshold question
I think Kikau sometimes gets the TS on reputation – and I’m ok with it. Being one of the biggest and most damaging ball runners in the game means that sometimes you’ve influenced the defence in a major way even if you haven’t exactly done a lot with the ball. The fact that the centre or winger don’t want to come out of the line to tackle you is exactly what creates the opening on some plays.
See above and I dont think anyone has ever described the scorers as sane. I 100% agree in real life Cody added more towards creating the try, unfortunately for the SC scoring doesn’t see it in that way as has been the case for the past 2+ years.
Whilst different and clearly defined, an offload that goes to ground that directly results in a try is scored as ineffective even though it created a try.

TMM needs to give Staggs some early ball rather than cutting him out!
First round in ages I haven’t had the bannerman in my side.
Must mean they will go large this week!
I was expecting Coates to be the pin up boy this time.

Don’t say that Shlappy lol
I reckon panthers will work hard to shut him down and take the punch out of the parra pack but as you said his work rate is powerful
Noooooo. Whhhhyyyy?!
It is somewhat unusual for the Banner to put out a player that scored under 100… but here it is
Last CTW
TU Tass
TD Koula
Rabbitohs: Mansour OUT, Milne IN (wing), Burgess OUT, Moale IN (prop), Sele OUT, Peoples IN (bench), Mamouzelas (18)
Broncos: 1-17, Lee (18)

The guy is 7 games into his career and has looked pretty solid. What makes you think he won’t?
I think Ilias had done a very handy job but Cleary is only 3 years older and has a mortgage on both jerseys until he retires.
It’s not for me to question a player who did it all in he NRL and by all accounts is a genius at dissecting the game. However, his record of who he proclaims destined for greatness is not without fails. Luke Brooks for eg
Hey Mort, you and are are h2h in the Banter Boys League. Good luck mate.
So is burgess out tonight and moale in and starting?
Last R
Taaffe, Tass, Ilias or Tago?

Nowhere you class Champ…. but for me it is between Schneider and Tuilagi without Lucy
Tuilagi
Thanks fellas.
Tuilagi it is. Let’s hope you can stay on the field this weekend because he certainly looks good when he’s on there.
Pick 2 of
Randall
Arrow
Koula
Penisini
I think I’ve put them in the right order. Thoughts?
My trades are locked in;
Ilias 4 C.Walker
Hiku 4 Tass.
Good luck to all
Who to trade for grant
TU: brailey
TD: randall
Taaffe actually looking decent tonight! Could of had an extra 50 points as well
Surely that was Cwalker’s TA, that is given every week to the sweeping player Taaffe was catch and pass
(a salty cody owner)
Fullbacks always get them though they are consistent about it. I agree Cody created all the space digging deep into the line.

TMM needs go get the ball for starters haha
He also loves to run himself, sticky hands. Since his first game back I had fears for outside players
Is staggs playing tonight?
Dear Broncos spine, give Staggs early ball and he will do the rest, cheers
Blessings be upon my accidental pickup of Selwyn Cobbo. He’s having a good game.
Just one of those super coaches years for me by the looks of it! Everything I do is wrong!:-(( lol
Do the opposite, like George Costanza.
