Stilesy’s Late Mail – Round 6

If you listen to the pod or follow me on Twitter, you’ll have seen that this is my last late mail article until round 14 as my wife and I will be overseas galivanting across the Canadian countryside. Lakey will be taking over until I’m back so all the mail will be in great hands until then. See you all on the other side of the first bye and have a happy Easter!

RABBITOHS V BULLDOGS, FRIDAY 4:00PM

RABBITOHS: Jai Arrow has been in hospital most of the week with a bad facial wound. He has survived the first team cut which is promising, though he is still in doubt. Isaiah Tass has been all but confirmed to come into the side in some fashion, so whether it’s due to Arrow dropping out of another means may not be known until an hour out. Peter Mamouzelos, Richard Kennar, Dean Hawkins, Terrell Kalo Kalo and Jaxson Paulo were the first players cut.

BULLDOGS: Corey Waddell dropped out of the side 24 hours out due to injury. This sees Chris Patolo shift to the edge and Aaron Schoupp join the bench. Bailey Biondi-Odo, Reece Hoffman, Jackson Topine and Joshua Cook were trimmed from the extended bench Thursday afternoon.

PANTHERS V BRONCOS, FRIDAY 7:55PM

PANTHERS: No changes seem likely here. J’Maine Hopgood, Lindsay Smith, Soni Luke, Christian Crichton and Sean O’Sullivan were the first players cut.

BRONCOS: Herbie Farnworth is out with a leg injury this round, which hands Delouise Hoeter his club debut at centre. Ezra Mam, Te Maire Martin, Ethan Quai-Ward and Logan Bayliss were the other players to drop out Thursday night.

SEA EAGLES V TITANS, SATURDAY 5:30PM

SEA EAGLES: Marty Taupau copped an early shoulder injury last round and while named, likely needs to make it through captain’s run. Ethan Bullemore would likely replace him at prop or come onto the bench with Sean Keppie or Taniela Paseka being promoted to the starting side. No other changes expected.

TITANS: The Titans don’t seem to have anybody named in doubt, so they are likely 1-17.

STORM V SHARKS, SATURDAY 7:35PM

STORM: Not much doing here either, expecting 1-17.

SHARKS: The Sharks also seem stable this round, 1-17 expected here also.

ROOSTERS V WARRIORS, SUNDAY 2:00PM

ROOSTERS: It will be an odd feeling not tweeting that Watson has moved to the bench this week with him already named in the #14 jersey due to Sam Verrills’ return. The main watch here again is Joseph Suaalii lurking on the extended bench, and he could be a late inclusion on the wing for Kevin Naiqama. No other changes expected at this stage.

WARRIORS: Matt Lodge was ruled out early through injury which sees Bunty Afoa move to prop, Taniela Otukolo join the bench and Jayden Corrigan get called onto the extended bench. No other changes expected, though as a holder I would like to see Viliame Vailea find his way into the side somehow.

DRAGONS V KNIGHTS, SUNDAY 4:05PM

DRAGONS: The Dragons held firm last round so I expect they’ll do the same here, though a sweeping game day switch-up is never off the table for Hook.

KNIGHTS: I’ve seen quite a few punters talking of a Brodie Jones hamstring issue. Unfortunately he plays the Sunday game so we can’t get a free look before potential owners likely need to make the trade, but as of Friday afternoon Barry Toohey said he’s not heard of Jones being ruled out so I’m riding with that for now. Adam Clune has opted to forgoe surgery on his injured leg but I’d have to think he’s in doubt. Phoenix Crossland likely comes into the halves if he is ruled out with Tex Hoy perhaps becoming the utility. After last round the Knights really can’t handle any more injuries, with Lakey one issue away from making his debut.

EELS V TIGERS, MONDAY 4:00PM

EELS: Another 1-17 seems likely here for Parra.

TIGERS: Luke Brooks has already been moved to five-eighth on the team list but he’s also apparently been training at hooker this round, so I’m not quite sure what to expect here. It could be nothing, or he could shift there with Jock Madden playing in the halves as either a pre-game announcement or during the match. No other changes seem likely at this stage.
