Woohoo Tigers Knights updates in
I cracked 1000 thanks to BJ up to 30 and Shiba to 37 lol
I’m still hoping BJ gets dropped as punishment so I can fix other areas first this week before I punt his lazy useless arse. To think he had the hide to call himself the best centre in the game a few weeks ago in an nrl.com interview bahahaha
From an SC perspective, 30 is very reasonable from BJ considering how terribly he played, and how uninvolved he was. 11 in negatives as well. Shows what a gun he could be if he just applied himself.
Only problem is he was on 27 at HT with added effective offloads etc by my calculations. It was looking very promising at HT. Then he just went off the rails.
I am playing him as long as he holds his spot. he looks interested in finding the footy and running hard. i have really liked what i saw with him and can see him improving throughout the season.
Yeah Katoa is looking like a very solid option. Shades of Nikora last season without the dual. Will get you consistent 45s with potential for 60+ on the regular. Looked like he was going to get 80 minutes and with that work rate he will be a comfortable top 17 player at this stage of the season for most.
He’s been hard done by, but not nearly as much as Blake who got nothing for the Evans try. Guarantee if that’s Smith or Cook they get a TC at the very least.
Not really, if that was a specialist hooker it would be a case of ‘spotting the gap in the defence and putting the forward through it’ and he’d be getting something.
I’ll have to strongly disagree. Evans steps back on the inside. The pass didn’t intend for Evans to do that. Rein overran out the defensive line and Evans took the initiative. I really can’t see that ever being paid.
Jeez what he “intended” to do is a bit subjective.
I’m not arguing its a TA because I agree Evans created the try, but given he was the bloke who passed the ball to the tryscorer and there was no one else involved in the play its surely worth a TC.
NBA you shoot off the pass most of the time. Evans has to run through multiple people, essentially doing it on his own. Cannot compare this to an NBA style assist at all.
Disagree there Billy. Lots of the time NBA assists are given to guys who then proceed to take 2-3 dribbles and hit a tough shot off the bounce. NRL has this rule drastically wrong.
If they are consistent then I have no issue with it. I have lost count of the amount of times specialist hookers have gotten TAs from passing it to a rampaging forward who carries defenders with him over the line. Is it the fact Evans changed his line that changes the “intent” of the pass?
I think the very fact that Blake chose to pass it to Evans actually contributes to the try being scored.
This is where i agree with you. A hooker gives a quick pass to a rampaging forward to barge over. Evans was standing still not rampaging at all. This is where my intent point comes in.
No. The specialist TA’s you are referring to is a Hooker passing it to an already moving/running forward. Evans can do what he wants with the ball, the pass didn’t force him to do anything as he was standing still a fair bit away from the line. Passing it to a running forward almost always mean they continue running and you have directly set them on a path to the tryline.
I haven’t seen a replay so I can’t recall if he was standing still or moving. Looks like the scorers have made their decision. Lets just agree to disagree and chat about it again next time when they inevitably do the opposite haha!
i’ve just rewatched it and he is moving a fair bit more than i remembered. In fact it does look more appealing for a TC than i first thought. Definitely no TA though and i doubt anyone gets that still.
I tried to comment about this but most of mine are getting moderated. I have just rewatched it again and yes Lawrence is the one who dropped him but all 3 engaged in the tackle at the same time and Walters picks it up, double pumps and puts Jrey through. IMO its a clear as day TA. I don’t get it. I feel like if he was any position but a hooker they would pay it. They seem to be really hesitant to pay TA’s to Hookers.
i’m just trying to understand the interpretation on this one , the tackles lead to a try but that was more of a TC because walters had to look up and draw that defender, i think its different if the ball spilled and walters just shovelled it to someone.
Anyone im not the scorer so i’l just have to accept it

How is Walters not getting a TS ? Is anyone able to explain that to me. He ran, draws the player, puts Reynolds away. The pass creates the try. Trust me Reynolds isn’t scoring shit without Walters getting him into the clear
stone will likely be hooker if mahoney is out, eels don’t have a back up and he was training there in preseason and played some of the trials there too.
Davies apparently played a bit of hooker in juniors dont know much about him though. There the only real options in the 30, on an eels facebook group the other name getting thrown up was will smith but i cant see that happening. Likely stone and Davies to share the 80 min role.
It would be the pod play but he is going to lose so much money. Doesn’t look that lively at all out of dummy half if im being honest. Loves to throw an early ball now and is not getting any attacking stats. Can’t see him scoring well this season unless that changes. I think he may struggle to average 65 this year.
Running Cook is about as risky as coughing in an elevator atm.
The amount of $$ Api will make plus how much $$ Cook will lose is prob around 500k (an extra gun player)
I’d wait til TLT before pulling the trigger, I have a feeling Murray will be back at 13 pretty soon and that’s all Cook needs. Wayne needs to have a serious think about the side because they look A LONG way away from top 4 candidates.
edit: bunnies seem stuck with 3 centers and AJ the only option at FB. It’s a pity Gagai’s best days are behind him.
Noticed Cooky was getting some cream (deepheat..?) rubbed on his lower back by a trainer at a scrum , could have a little niggle holding him back atm …?
Simonsson v Blake. Who is more of a sell? Was convinced it would be Simo after seeing his base on Saturday but with that try he shouldn’t lose cash and has dragons next in Canberra. Meanwhile Matto looks like SC poison for Blake and he’s been a dud in two easy games after I picked him for matchups.
Can afford to upgrade both but edging towards holding one and using other trade for Musgrove > Flegler. Thoughts please.
I decided to do the Musgrove to Flegler trade after the Bronco’s game. My other trade also will likely be Blake to Issako. Simo gets another week due to necessity.
I remember Lucy’s tackle well because after that point is where BJ really gave up and started playing like an idiot. Lucy’s face after the tackle was full of concern and apology but none of the Knights were having it.
Cotric looked good but he has just had 2 of the easiest match ups and (unluckily) failed to score in both. Base minus the TB’s wasn’t that great last week and he certainly won’t get close to 16 TB’s each week. Think he may be a slight trap/ pod option for the sake of podding, not getting the best scorer.
Kenny is an interesting return. Api has been close to Panthers best over the first 2 rounds and can play 80 no problem. This could really hurt him but i think Kenny will be outside the 17 for now, especially while Panthers are winning loads.
HAs been well said May and Kenny could make the bench as utility/cover. The way Api is playing could see either easily filling in at 13. Like has been said
I think the Isaako thing will be of concern for the majority of this season. Its the risk you will have to take if you get him. Staggs with GK could top score the centres for the year.
An option they’re considering is to isolate themselves in country QLD anyway. But not sure that works with players being away from their families for such a long time.
NRL seems to think that the States will consider an exemption if the players are on a chartered flight, onto a private coach, into a sealed ground and return, given they will have zero contact.
I imagine that would be Plan A, with Plan B being to relocate teams.
Surely the only way the season continues now is if they can get all teams to 1 location and then continue the season in isolation. Got to imagine the states will provide a once off exemption to allow them in
Wasn’t expecting to be outside the top 10k with a 1077 average after Week 2 either!

Api (BB)
Haas Knight (Musgrove, Rudolf)
Lolo, Arrow, Fifi (J Will, Carrigan, Katoa)
Cleary (Walters)
Wighton (Luai)
BJ, Blake, Lomax, Watkins (Kennedy, Williame, Eisenhuth)
Turbo, Pap
TU – J Will to Fleg and BJ to Isaako/Staggs/Yeo then next week Blake to Isaako/Staggs/Yeo
TD: Anything else!
Thanks in advance all
Tempted to get rid of BJ and Blake asap for 2 CTW Guns..
TU and bench Blake for Kennedy in round 3 potentially.
Thanks Billy – always appreciate the help. Reserve after Carrigan, Fleg and Pap. Thinking has to be Katoa?
I am playing him as long as he holds his spot. he looks interested in finding the footy and running hard. i have really liked what i saw with him and can see him improving throughout the season.

Agree – the first two rounds look promising. Thanks to both of you – bit of gun advice always helps the cause
Don’t want to carry on too much but does the Walters TC deserve to be upgraded to an assist?
Doulbe pump draw defender and pass compared to a normal catch pass when no one is around?
He’s been hard done by, but not nearly as much as Blake who got nothing for the Evans try. Guarantee if that’s Smith or Cook they get a TC at the very least.
Surely a joke right? All Blake did was pass from dummy half to Evans on the 10 who steps the defence and burrows in. They don’t give those to anyone.

I’m not arguing its a TA because I agree Evans created the try, but given he was the bloke who passed the ball to the tryscorer and there was no one else involved in the play its surely worth a TC.
I just can’t see what he contributed to that try whatsoever. Can’t just pay a nothing pass.
That’s how assists work in nba haha.
Last pass. There’s so much opinion that it will never be a consistent system

This is where i agree with you. A hooker gives a quick pass to a rampaging forward to barge over. Evans was standing still not rampaging at all. This is where my intent point comes in.
So the argument is that Blake’s intention when passing to a stationary forward close to the line was that the forward doesn’t run the ball. Got it.
No. The specialist TA’s you are referring to is a Hooker passing it to an already moving/running forward. Evans can do what he wants with the ball, the pass didn’t force him to do anything as he was standing still a fair bit away from the line. Passing it to a running forward almost always mean they continue running and you have directly set them on a path to the tryline.

i’ve just rewatched it and he is moving a fair bit more than i remembered. In fact it does look more appealing for a TC than i first thought. Definitely no TA though and i doubt anyone gets that still.
They dont give out TC for a try unless there is a TS though, so it is either all or nothing for a player at dummy half.
I tried to comment about this but most of mine are getting moderated. I have just rewatched it again and yes Lawrence is the one who dropped him but all 3 engaged in the tackle at the same time and Walters picks it up, double pumps and puts Jrey through. it wasnt from dummy hal but to me Walters Contributes more to that try than Matto which moses had to run and beat the fullback.
Walters literally put him in the clear with that pass.
Anyway i will never understand how the thought process is between an assist an a TC
just trying to kill us Walters owners! Both weeks now hard done by! If this was smith/Cook would be a national inquiry
i’m just trying to understand the interpretation on this one , the tackles lead to a try but that was more of a TC because walters had to look up and draw that defender, i think its different if the ball spilled and walters just shovelled it to someone.

ridiculous, I agree.
Kalyn Ponga is facing a two week suspension – one week with early plea – for shoulder charge on
Wests Tigers Corey Thompson
Ouch.
Wow. I didn’t think that warranted a suspension. He kind of braced when Thompson tried to step back inside him.
Absolutely no attempt with the arms, I guess it is likely.
didn’yt see the game but anything like the one Slater got off in goal? glancing?
From memory I don’t think ponga attempted a tackle
Boooooo Ponga to turbo will be a popular trade if he gets 2 weeks
To add to that:
Nathan Brown – 2 Weeks.
Moeaki Fotuaika – 1 Week.
Luciano Leilua – Free to play with an early guilty plea.
matto to lock?
Could do, with Marata Niukore starting on the edge (or Lock) and Ray Stone joining the bench.
stone will likely be hooker if mahoney is out, eels don’t have a back up and he was training there in preseason and played some of the trials there too.
I thought Rhys Davies might get a shot. Whether he’s coming off the bench after 20-30 minutes or starting and then Ray Stone taking over.
He is listed as a Halfback on their site, so I have no idea.
https://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2020/02/11/eels-upgrade-rhys-davies-to-top-30-squad/
Davies apparently played a bit of hooker in juniors dont know much about him though. There the only real options in the 30, on an eels facebook group the other name getting thrown up was will smith but i cant see that happening. Likely stone and Davies to share the 80 min role.
Not all heros wear capes
also looking at lolo the stats have him with 8 TBs but only awarded him 6 , can we get an understanding as to why this is the case?
Where are you getting the 8 number from?
nrl stats, 6 tbs in 1 run
Probably his own playbook 😀
🙁
Is cook worth holding? I don’t have Api. Are souths not the same team anymore
yep, holding
It would be the pod play but he is going to lose so much money. Doesn’t look that lively at all out of dummy half if im being honest. Loves to throw an early ball now and is not getting any attacking stats. Can’t see him scoring well this season unless that changes. I think he may struggle to average 65 this year.
Happy to run the risk
Running Cook is about as risky as coughing in an elevator atm.
The amount of $$ Api will make plus how much $$ Cook will lose is prob around 500k (an extra gun player)
i already have a gun player though
I’d wait til TLT before pulling the trigger, I have a feeling Murray will be back at 13 pretty soon and that’s all Cook needs. Wayne needs to have a serious think about the side because they look A LONG way away from top 4 candidates.
edit: bunnies seem stuck with 3 centers and AJ the only option at FB. It’s a pity Gagai’s best days are behind him.
Thats why I am okay with holding Murray but burns needs to go, whats that saying “guns don’t lose money if you don’t sell them”
Noticed Cooky was getting some cream (deepheat..?) rubbed on his lower back by a trainer at a scrum , could have a little niggle holding him back atm …?
Williams -> Lucy 37K ITB
or
Williams -> Katoa 300K ITB
Katoa is a must have at that price playing 80 on an edge.
he played 65
HIA
didnt know that thanks
Simonsson v Blake. Who is more of a sell? Was convinced it would be Simo after seeing his base on Saturday but with that try he shouldn’t lose cash and has dragons next in Canberra. Meanwhile Matto looks like SC poison for Blake and he’s been a dud in two easy games after I picked him for matchups.
Can afford to upgrade both but edging towards holding one and using other trade for Musgrove > Flegler. Thoughts please.
FWIW as someone who owns Simo but not Blake – I would sell Blake.
I decided to do the Musgrove to Flegler trade after the Bronco’s game. My other trade also will likely be Blake to Issako. Simo gets another week due to necessity.
Ponga facing 1 match ban if pleads guilty to hit on Lucy.
If contests and fails, will face two matches
Ironically, Lucy to accrue 75 points but not miss game time if accepts early guilty plea
The hit was on Thompson wasn’t it?
Correct, sorry. Lucy’s was on Ponga
I remember Lucy’s tackle well because after that point is where BJ really gave up and started playing like an idiot. Lucy’s face after the tackle was full of concern and apology but none of the Knights were having it.
Blake is going bye-bye.
TU: Yeo
TD: Cotric
Cotric looked good but he has just had 2 of the easiest match ups and (unluckily) failed to score in both. Base minus the TB’s wasn’t that great last week and he certainly won’t get close to 16 TB’s each week. Think he may be a slight trap/ pod option for the sake of podding, not getting the best scorer.
That’s fair.
I have concerns over both to be honest. Cotric for the reasons you said, and Yeo for the Capewell/Kikau factor.
Mansour is also an option, but against the Storm is the worry there.
Kikau shouldn’t affect Yeo as they play opposite sides but i get the Capewell concern. Is he injured? I didn’t even notice he wasn’t in their 17.
Yep, opposite sides but once his minutes get back up to 80 they are going to have to come from somewhere.
Should come from Martin who is playing big minutes everytime Kikau is off.
Hopefully!
Knowing my luck I’ll bring him in and he’ll get a HIA again and retire.
Capewell and Kenny available rnd 3 according to injury lists
Kenny is an interesting return. Api has been close to Panthers best over the first 2 rounds and can play 80 no problem. This could really hurt him but i think Kenny will be outside the 17 for now, especially while Panthers are winning loads.
Doubt they mess win a winning combo but Ivan could
HAs been well said May and Kenny could make the bench as utility/cover. The way Api is playing could see either easily filling in at 13. Like has been said
STAGGS? Isaako is reportedly still deciding whether to go home to NZ and Staggs would then get kicking
If Isaako heads back to NZ then Staggs becomes at absolute necessity. Will be the #1 ctw by a considerable distance with the GK’ing.
I think the Isaako thing will be of concern for the majority of this season. Its the risk you will have to take if you get him. Staggs with GK could top score the centres for the year.
If/when that happens I will go Isaako to Staggs.
Yeah I think I will go Isakoo this week anyway, he will make a lot of cash and plays titans. If/When he goes sell
Seems to be popular, can i get everyone’s thoughts..
TU – J WILLIAMS out
TD – MUSGROVE out
6-0
First 6 players this week – 549.
Last 11 players – 461.
I love SC !
QLD PREMIER JUST ANNOUNCED PLAN TO CLOSE STATE’S BORDERS!
Likely spells doom for the NRL continuing…
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-23/coronavirus-australia-live-updates-covid-19-latest-news/12079740
An option they’re considering is to isolate themselves in country QLD anyway. But not sure that works with players being away from their families for such a long time.
Well if the borders are closed i can’t see how they get in to QLD.
Guess it depends on when they do it and how they get everyone there. Don’t see it happening personally.
Need to be in NSW now before they close borders
NRL seems to think that the States will consider an exemption if the players are on a chartered flight, onto a private coach, into a sealed ground and return, given they will have zero contact.
I imagine that would be Plan A, with Plan B being to relocate teams.
I hope they somehow manage to pull it off, staying home is much easier when there’s footy on TV to watch!!!
Surely the only way the season continues now is if they can get all teams to 1 location and then continue the season in isolation. Got to imagine the states will provide a once off exemption to allow them in
Get em up to Gladstone I say.
Agree completely – get them up to Calliope!
Problem there is how long it is before they can return if it goes to full lockdown or covid raises its ugly head in the camp
Cook, Brailey
Haas, Horse, Musgrove, Rudolf
Arrow, Dfifi, Knight, Lucy, Carrigan, Kerr
Moses, Walters
GWill, Luai
Leilua, Roberts, Blake, Lomax, Mann, Wiliame, Lemuelu
Ponga, Paps
$164k ITB.
Thinking Cook > Api
Leilua or Blake > Isaako/Staggs
This lockout feels like it’s lasting longer than the lockdown.
Let me innnn
Inspect element doesn’t cut it when trying to get Bj out of my team.
LOCKOUT OVER
This is the most outrageous start to a season ever, in so many ways. Can’t even crack the Top 20% with a 1,050 average!
I’m wallowing down in the mid 35k!
Year of the mid-ranger looks to be year of the high scores. An 1150 average won’t even get you top 1k.
Nuts.
Wasn’t expecting to be outside the top 10k with a 1077 average after Week 2 either!
I can honestly say I am a little surprised I didnt jump up more ranks with a 1170 this week. Started at rank 1571 and only up to 1495. Bloody Moses haha!
Lets hope we get a round 3
Without looking at BEs and price rises, across the board yet, BJ and Blake to Staggs and Mansour look very satisfying
Mansour tough matchup vs Storm.
Yep definitely. Need to check out all the BEs and potential cash increases before pulling any triggers. My CTW does look a whole lot better though!
Hence why I am leaning towards Isakoo for that reason,
Good start for the site in general as well – 5 leagues in the top 10 already!
Nice work everyone!
