Angus to miss start of season.

MyYfH8sSC

Why? The last I heard was that he was serving a suspension during the trials but would play Rd 1.

weebs

Dealing with personal issues, hopefully he’s ok and is back soon.

The ol’ Mental health chestnut.

devil

Unless you’ve experienced it, you won’t understand it

marose

Pretty ordinary comment from you. All the best to Angus

Karma Keg

Hey Guys, what are people’s thoughts on Hodgson at Eels? Playing it a top 8 side priced around a 35 average his worst season was 2020 where he averaged 42 otherwise he’s always been 50+.

I’m not thinking as a regular play, but a cash-gen option then use the money elsewhere. Maybe run with a Cheese/Hodgson combo to start then look to upgrade to Grant/Cook.

DCE2011

He’s a smokey. Looks pretty ripped in the training photos.

CoG

You would have to play hodgo at rnd 4.
Luke Boyd Hodgo maybe Levi need to be run through the PCC ,Price Change Calculator once rnd 1 benches are known

DCE2011

At $385K, Hodgo is fairly low risk for a starting hooker (priced at 37 av).

Karma Keg

That’s my thoughts. He seems a good option compared to some of the others for a similar price that I’m being forced to look at. I’m assuming Arthur is on the bench again and probably only pinches 10-15 mins off him.

Souths have a tough start to the year and Storm will do Storm things but their forwards don’t seem as good as in the past so I’m not sure if Grant drops a little cash as well. I can’t really see Hodgo losing money given his starting price.

CoG

Looked worse than i expected in that trial. Still early and may improve. BOL

MyYfH8sSC

If he isn’t injured by then he will be gold through origin as Parra players will be in high demand thanks to their draw.

staggs

Depends on his minutes IMO, not a high PPM hooker, so if Brad Arthur runs a hooker on the bench Hodgson will be a no go, for me he needs 65 mins + to average anything worthwhile.

ApaxHapiMickey

What are people’s thoughts on Boyd?? Considering him at hb2 as I don’t have the funds for hynes, but unsure on whether he’s a money maker?? Any insight on to whether he’s a good cash gen option in this new look titans team?

CoG

He looks the most likely to have a higher ceiling around that price.Went well against bottom 8 sides at end of 22. If he duds out he comes Ilias.

MyYfH8sSC

Job security is his issue. If he starts well he will make a lot of money, but if he doesn’t he will be on the bench soon enough. He’s my 2nd HB as I feel he is well worth the risk for his price. Cash generation is the key in the early rounds and he looks a great chance to do that!

Severian

Trying to fill a keeper draft league if anyone is interested. Have 4 spots left. Code is 426746. Anyone know a good place to try find interested people? This is pretty much the only place I look for SC stuff. Cheers.

Temple Guard

Very enjoyable games tonight…. few notes made… one thing I noticed that all the players did struggle with the heat and obviously match fitness which is understandable, however they all be getting up to speed in the next 2 weeks hopefully

Tommy Smurf Sangsta

Yeah I thought the Manly v Souths game was cracking! Considering the talent, conditions and it’s the first hit out, I thought both teams were pretty impressive. I felt like Manly had the better structures, but Souths had the better impact. V Fifita for Manly looked mighty impressive when he ran the ball and the young #6 for Souths was electric. Reminded me of a young Milf!

Temple Guard

Hi Tom,
on another note could You please explain the Rd 13/16/19 rule of best 13
a lot of coaches a unsure how it’s meant to work,,, one example given was… if you C scores 10 and if you are as lucky to have 14 your AT scores 12…. does the VC become C and the AT drops your Captain out…. I know new waters but that’s why we are somewhat confused.
If You could tell us all how it is meant to work, we would appreciate your input 🙂

MyYfH8sSC

This really makes you think about that Cowboys opening 8 weeks. They are away to the Dogs and Warriors (in Rds 5 and 7) but otherwise are in Qld for the rest. The first 3 out of 4 rds they are in Townsville. It’s going to be so hot! Surely you have to load up on Cowboys players, who should be pretty acclimatised to that humidity! I feel so sorry for those Raiders and Warriors forwards for those trips in Rd 1 and 3!

CoG

The Bronx draw is ok as well.

DCE2011

As long as you remember that the Cowboys lost 2 of their first 3 games at home in 2022 (lost to Dogs in R1 and Roosters in R4). I don’t think professional athletes struggle as much as we mere mortals would. 🙂

MyYfH8sSC

What are people planning to do with the 2RF? This seems to be where most of the value is! I wanted to start with Fifita and Murray but how do you fit the likes of Wilton, Garner, Katoa, Niukore, Hopgood, Schuster, Blore et al? None are dual FRF either.

CoG

I’ll be trying to get as many as possible .Looks a good spot to get depth money and hopefully points. Chooks might have one and a slight possibility of another at the Storm.
Benches will help thin them out plus early byes. Depends on the cheapies how many we can afford.

Spitty

I think its a case of pick the one or two you want and hope you pick the right ones. If you’re getting value out of cheapies and ctw, then you have to prioritise scoring in 2rf.

As an aside, I can’t be the only one that sees Blore as a giant trap

DCE2011

Agree on Blore – warms Bateman’s spot.

tigertragic

You don’t think Bateman will play lock and take Matamua’s place?

DCE2011

I think Bateman is a better edge than middle. Can see Ofa or Twal as starting lock (Klem, Pole, Uto for FRF. Matamua on bench). As a Tigers fan, you probably know your team better than I do.

MyYfH8sSC

I just wish Bateman would actually arrive. This visa issue -I smell bullshit!

DCE2011

Is he injured? – as per rumour.

tigertragic

not sure injury related or visa related (doubtful), but last “rumour” was, going to miss the first 2 or 3 games.

AJW

Maybe we’ve got a Djokovic II situation??? Hahaha!

Spitty

Just going off the trial I thought Matamua looked good. He obviously needs to work on combinations with his teammates so his passes find their mark, but a good ball playing lock would be value for the tigers

Sonnysideup

My 2RF is stacked with 3 guns then Garner, JHop looking the safest with Blore as a placeholder atm.
I have a lot question marks over all the options floating around as 2RF value.
I figure it’s easier for me to downgrade if one of them jumps out of the ground than to take too many and be stuck trying to upgrade a trap.

vertigo

Every time I’ve started with mid-rangers I’ve been burnt.

drunk sloths

who wants to do a draft tonight

Temple Guard

Very enjoyable games…. great to have footy Back 🙂
More notes done…. mainly for the potential Cash Cows
How is everybody feeling about nuffies this Year…. I don’t think You want any due the weekly byes but I may see that wrong… Thoughts appreciated

MyYfH8sSC

A nuff at centre perhaps, but really not this early ever, particularly not this year. Someone like Metcalf would be a consideration as he is going to play soon enough, alas he is only 5/8 I think.

Temple Guard

Anybody that has impressed you thus far… I thought Naden looked good but who knows

MyYfH8sSC

Next week is where it really matters. This week is often more about time on the pitch, or trying out different positions. Naden will be in the Rd 1 centres and Talau will not! Matamua looks a good chance to be in the 17, they really want a ball playing lock! Metcalf looks a far better option than TMM to me. Penrith should put 50 on St Helens if tonight was anything to go by. Sommerton looks good -no chance to get into 1st grade yet, but no doubt Gould has already signed him up! That incredible Panthers junior system… Read more »

Hey guys, played supercoach for quite a few years, but first year here on sctalk. My current thought process on a team this year is that there’s a lot of opportunity in cheap money makers in the forwards, so I’ve pretty much loaded up on cheaper forwards that I think will generate cash, with the excess cap spent on guns in the spine. Struggling with my alt fb atm though, currently have teddy and if turbo is fit I’ll almost certainly start with him, but assuming he doesn’t start, I’m struggling. Ponga is an option and could be a good… Read more »

MyYfH8sSC

Just had a look at a backup FB, for the first time, as Turbo has assured us he is ready to go Rd 1. It looks pretty dire so he had better play! If Teddy got injured and I couldn’t get to Latrell I’d go down to Drinkwater.. Ponga is still injured, so no pre season. I asked the same question re 2RF yesterday. You have to make money early on but you need points too so 5 sub 500k 2RF (using 4 in my 17) + 1 gun looks my best option. The only place in the spine that… Read more »

Drinky will be fine and probably a nice POD, but I think Savage would be the move.

Priced at a 47 avg and avged 60 at fullback last year. So use him for cash gen and upgrade someone in the forwards.

MyYfH8sSC

Savage over Turbo or if Turbo is out? He is definitely the best downgrade option but Canberra has a pretty tough draw up to their bye.

Last edited 1 year ago by MyYfH8sSC
Spitty

Oh Turbo over Savage for sure. Currently I have both though

Colossal Von Crumpet

Lots of potential for Drinks with the early draw. I had him as a POD for a chunk of 2022. Found him to be frustrating and a bit unreliable. For every great score was a middling 40-50 score. Full disclosure – I was burned by a wasted C in the 36 game against Wests!

Not interested at his starting price point.

Jimmy Barnes

Who are your cheap forwards that you think will make money? I’m concerned the likes of Mooney, Morea, Matamua, let alone Pele, will be super slow burn. Not even very confident about Moale.

So trying to get Howarth and Schuster in my 2RF as they could generate money a lot quicker.

CoG

Schuster – Dogs bye Eels Bunnies Newcs Pants Melb -A few handbrakes on his money making there probably
Howarth may not make the team for this next trial so the definition of a watch
It is going to be tough to get it right.

MyYfH8sSC

Are the Rd 1 BE simply the average that they are priced at or is a bit more complicated?

Spitty

It’s what they’re priced at. 10500 per point, so 10500 X BE = Price

MyYfH8sSC

Thanks.

KBB

The problem i see in many teams is running Cleary and Boyd in half is Rd 3. Titans play Storm, with Penriths bye you will be forced to play Boyd. Worth a think

The Pretender

Worth a think but probably not worth missing out on that combo – Storm not the defensive side they once were and Boyd and the titans will improve with Foran there, gut feel is Tanah Boyd has a floor of 40 given he kicks, and is busy defensively.

Dieharder

Are their any SCTalk leagues for The Real Dream Team that need filling???

polarbear

These Real Dream Team Leagues need filling:
562367 8 spots
251136 12 spots
Come on board mate, plus anyone else

Dieharder

Joined both mate. Cheers

CoG

Joined 562367 – cheers polarbear

polarbear

Great. Welcome to the leagues fellas

Noisy Barkers

Joined 251136 cheers.

CoG

Olam -probable fractured arm in trial

Bunnnys56

Commentators keep saying D.Fifita and Foran playing on same side of the field. I know that Fozz plays left, Did D. Fifita play left side last year? Thanks in advance.

tigertragic

I am pretty sure D Fifita played right and Fermor played left.

Seagles

Foran can play either side.

MyYfH8sSC

With the likes of Butcher, Wilton, Garner, Niukore, Katoa, Loiero, Hopgood etc is it the end of the 2RF gun this year? It look’s difficult to justify spending so much on Murray or Fifita when you have these guys who’ll score a little less but so much cheaper! You also consider the ultra potential cheapies like Blore, Schuster (currently in my 5/8) Doorey, Mooney, Matamua etc. we might need 10 places at 2RF this year.

Karma Keg

I think you’ll still want the Fifita’s, Murray’s and Angus by the season’s end. But it’s a big question about starting with them, especially if the cheapie CTWs don’t come and we need to spend keeper money there. Personally I’m still keen on Fifita and had Angus until the mental health news. I think I’ll still take at least 1 gun in 2RF.

MyYfH8sSC

What is this talk about boosts? Apparently we had them last year too. What are they?

sgi steelers

You can use a boost to get an extra trade in any particular rd you choose.

MyYfH8sSC

So they are just extra trades. Thanks. Where do they appear?

sgi steelers

Extra trade for the rd you choose to use but will come off your total number of trades.

LOTE

Usually at the top with your trades and the number of boosts left. If you click on the number it will show an extra trade.

Temple Guard

If I see this right… SC Coaches are slowly grown to 76,000 with 2 weeks to go till TLT…. about on par with last year… we ended up with about 140k SC’s… or am I seen that wrong ?

DCE2011

I believe you, TG.

Temple Guard

Haha DCE…. you never know…. some SC’s may not add a second team this year…. I just play with one team…. enough headaches with that 😉

Score to Settle

Any leagues to join this year lads!?

polarbear

SC Talk Palavi 385445 (Legends) has vacancies. Check out the ‘League and Group Codes’ for others

CoG

Will most of the top end players from the All Stars miss this weekend games
I’m expecting a few to sit it out

Temple Guard

With Savage having a facial fracture is Rapana becoming a viable option in CTW, assuming he will become the FB till Savage returns?

DCE2011

Apparently, Schiller and A.Hopoate in the FLB mix as well.

Temple Guard

A wait and see than… definitely tempting cheapies to make cash if they get the spot
