General Offseason Chat

We’re into the SuperCoach off-season now!

Congrats to all the winners, whether it’s H2H, Draft or the Overall race. Huge season!

Thank you all for being part of the SC Talk Community this crazy old year that was 2020! Thanks to all the contributors, podcasters, commenters and players who make the site what it is.

We’ll be back next season with all the usual gear. In the meantime, keep your eye out for some big announcements early in 2021, as well as some chat pages opening up on the Big Bash and SuperCoach Racing (opening this Saturday).

Now, onto the real rugby league where we don’t have to count every tackle, refresh the app every minute and worry about our dodgy captain choices!

Justin

North Queenslander born and bred, Justin is also very much a Cowboys tragic. Rumours have it that his first born son will be named Thurston.

Magoulias potentially to dragons. Would be a decent buy for the st George and if he gets the lock role will be a must.

polarbear

As a Sharkies supporter, I hope not. Not sure why Sharks didn’t play him more often last season. Better than Jack Williams

manila shark

Dragons just signed Alvaro from the Eels.Seems they could not get Billy Magoulias from the Sharks so I hope that means we will use him this season – as a ball playing 13 to help fill the SJ void.

perrin_07

Curious as to who will get the goal kicking for storm. Need grant to get learning now!

Squirtle Squad

Cmon Munster!!

A comment on some clubs draw for 2021 in alpha order. I’ll endeavour to get thru all 16 clubs…. To start : – 1/Broncos – cannot win the comp.. R1 to R9 tough games except b.dogs r3, manly r10 & dragons r13. Draw heaps better from r18 – r25 post origin. Broncos play r13 first bye. 2/B/dogs – Draw tough from r1 to r12 & have the bye r13. Draw good post origin. 3/Cowboys – Only 3 games outside qld x r12 which are panthers R1, tigers r5 & warriors r8 which isn’t too bad Unfortunately, they miss r13 bye… Read more »

I was reading Part 1 of Rob Sutherlands R/V of each teams gains and losses, so far, and how that affects Supercoach. From the twitter account there is no firewall for Part 1, but there is for Part 2. No prices, but certainly some refer to their averages for which they will be priced. For example, Tino will be priced at 57 points /game and Dafita will be priced just under the elite 2RF (Av 64)., They will all be leaked on Tuesday.

Sneak peek at key positional changes: “WINNERS Valentine Holmes (dual CTW and FLB) – Classed only as a fullback last year, Holmes has scored dual status for 2021 after starting two of 13 games on the wing. While his average of 57.5 was never enough to command a fullback spot for KFC SuperCoach, it’s border line keeper territory at CTW. Charlie Staines (dual CTW and FLB) – Only handed FLB status last year, Staines played on the wing for the Panthers before going down injured. He finished with the highest KFC SuperCoach average of any player (112) but will receive… Read more »

“LOSERS Isaah Yeo (2RF only) – The star Panther dominated the CTW position last year but has stripped of dual status after playing every game in the back row. There goes our backline banker. Jazz Tevaga (2RF only) – The Warriors’ PPM beast played solely as a lock last year and has therefore been stripped of HOK status, meaning he won’t be able to swing with the likes of Cameron McInnes. Patrick Carrigan (2RF only) – Starting the season as a mid-range sleeper, the Broncos captain made an incredible $228,800 and was a top-17 player for many KFC SuperCoaches right… Read more »

OnTheBus

would you still pick Val if payton puts him on the wing . Hammer is a better fullback

Hoppa look’s a good pick

Moylan at 5/8 maybe

What happened to that roosters young gun that done his ACL? Suaali for bye period a better option

Tino with big mins will be a must but where do his mins come from? Titans are stacked now, Mo Fifi Wallace Proctor EseEse Lisone fermor farmer….. if picked at prop might be worth leaving him out early on?

MyYfH8sSC

I plan to start with Tino. DPP, underpriced, guaranteed to start!

perrin_07

Priced at 57 so think that’s about where he’ll end up

CoG

hoppa if the entertainers are back. Val has has a pretty cushy run up
to the first bye. Capewell if starting could fill a hole
Prefer Hammer on the wing as he still a sapling

5/ Eels – R1 Broncos @ Suncorp.,,
Rounds 2 – 5 they play 4 games @ Bankwest Stadium which includes Melb followed by 3 straight away games.

The draw is very tough from rounds 18 – 25 post origin.

6/ Knights – Maybe the best way to explain the Knights draw will be revolved around confidence/momentum from the outset.

Rounds 1 – 6 they play 4 home games,1 on the central coast with just 1 away game against none top 8 sides.

Rounds 7,8 & 9 it becomes tough re Panthers/Roosters & Raiders.(prior to origin.) then rounds 18,19 & 20 (post origin) against Storm/Roosters & Raiders.

p.s/ likey no Ponga for round 1 due to injury.

OnTheBus

Are price’s out today or after christmas??

MunsterMash

Tomorrow when the team selector is out

MunsterMash

Its starting to look like we might get a small set of quite decent cheapies

So what is everyone thinking regarding POD moves to start the season? Not necessarily certain players but structure with the team.

I think i might go cheap in FRF or at the very least PODs in there. Also maybe a left field choice in 2RW as well.

OnTheBus

Alot of change’s up front for most team’s . My thinking is Manly/tiges players like Kapow/paseka/Ofa but as always best to wait until after the trials are over and get a proper look at player’s roles

OnTheBus

Whoever gets Joel Thompson’s spot should offer value in the back row. Davey goweski and a couple of others there.
Waddell at dogs could grab a spot at the dogs, hetherington.
Raiders with batemans spot up for grabs.. tapine/young…

MunsterMash

-Frizells spot at the dragons looks an opportunity.
-Goal kicker at the Storm is a must IMO
-As you mentioned, the left edge of Manly has opportunities as it looks like Taufua might miss the start of the season as well as filling Thompson’s spot
-There MIGHT be an opportunity for Egan to get 80mins at the warriors as Lawton looks like he will miss the majority of the year

OnTheBus

hard to take any drags players when they are signing players like alvaro.
They look to be the worst attacking team in the comp.

Lawton injury would most likely mean jazz fills in there but egan could be a decent option behind a decent pack now

Super Naught

Jackson Ford has good wraps on him and in Frizells absence there is opportunity

TurkeySnow

He will likely not be base price though, and could have competition from bird!?! Hopefully he gets it!

Sc Jedi Master

Personally, for me I am looking at possibly going cheap in CTW as long as the likes of Tupulotu, Feagia, Stains and (Warriors) Hoppa play come Rd 1. Also I am thinking of going Cleary and then going cheap with Schuster, (Roosters) Walker and Sullivan but it’s very dependent of these players being named Rd 1. I am planning to start strong with FB with Turbo/Paps (as long as paps is the storms first choice kicker next season). I am also wanting to go strong but mixed with cheapies with FRF and 2RF and thinking at this point Haas/AFB and… Read more »

A few teams so far this early have decent options I am interested in: Storm – Munster/papy – gk, more control. Grant, bsmith is still forward rotation, big fui didn’t play much and no tino. Panthers – Staines if he is cheep enough, Cleary I feel is just a lock. Luai also finished rather strong, ctw open there as well, maybe the young prop without a few there. Roosters – center spot and hlf spot likely, teddy also another who could be a lock but depending on roosters attack as they started to drop off. Raiders – hoopa if he… Read more »

Super Naught

Agree re Cleary. Munster is close to being a lock in for me too.

Sc Jedi Master

I think getting whoever is the GKer for the storm, will be a must. I think it will be Paps over Munster. Grant is the other must have imo so he will be one of my first picked, as I can see him improving even more as a player this year under bellyache. I agree with you TS that Cleary is a lock and will be my first picked player next season. Stains I think will not be too expensive to start the year and even if he is a mid range the potential is huge especially considering that the… Read more »

Yeah I also forgot:

Knights – Watson if he does get 13

Dogs – hetherigton and maybe hoppa if flb

I think there will be too much competition for min at warriors for AFB to be an option. AFB, BMM, evans tevega etc

Dragons – depends if bird plays center or lock but then where does hunt/McInnes fit, Ford on an edge hopefully!

Asiata at broncos if he gets the 13?

CoG

McInnes hkr and Hunt half . Bench watch for the hkr rnd 1

OnTheBus

ponga is out for the first 5 rounds so a player like Hoy or Starford could be a decent option, does goal kick too

zen

Just touching on the Dragons draw in alittle more depth with some feedback.

1/ New Coach
2/ Dragons play 7 x straight Sunday games which might impact on vice captain choices.
3/ Rounds 11 to 16 sees them play no Sunday games. (1 x Thurs,3 x Fri,1 x Sat & 1 x Monday game/s.)
4/ Their run home is extremely tough re semis contention.

p.s What are ppls thoughts re the Dragons season.

OnTheBus

Dragons have lost a heap of experience. Friz , Aitken , graham , lafai , Sims and luke. They let go a few good juniors saab sailor . Prob the worst spine in the comp and funnily enough thats where they have spent on their cap.

Prob a team you will find cheapies as the season progresses.

MunsterMash

Will be lucky to make the 8 at this stage. But i can see them in the mix. I.e. 7 to 11th

Sc Jedi Master

Personally I can not see them making the top 8, imo to do so, they need to drop Norman and stick with Sullivan. If anyone hasn’t seen Sullivan play you need to watch his highlights reel to see the massive potential the young fella has. Reminds my slightly like Cody Walker with his instinctive play style. I read that the coach wants to play bird in the second row which will be interesting to see how he adjust and hopefully he can also have an injury free 2021. Like OTB said, The Dragons have lost a lot of experience and… Read more »

Thanks, just found it.

I don't pray to God; I pray to DCE

It looks like the salary cap is comparatively higher this season to account for the higher scores across the board in 2020 – pushing up the median. It’ll make it easier to fit in more guns to start the season.

2019 averaging 70 and over: 10 players
2020 averaging 70 and over: 23 players.

Purchased Supercoach Plus today.

It says it starts today the 22nd Dec 2020.

Any reason why i cannot access Team Picker 2021 via my team?

MyYfH8sSC

I think you had to have it last year. Perhaps it will work tomorrow.
