So in the end my call for a top 6 was and still is a better finals system , both sharks broncs and tigers all didnt desreve to have a sniff . Top 2 should have had the week off as i said before , how is coming first and winning 20 games then losing your first final a reward of consistency? I still reckon the finals should be top 6 with top 2 off and that would have left manly vs eels and raiders vs bunnies , waste of a week all for the $$ but sacrificing quality footy… Read more »

Same here . Has to lose money as last , otherwise we would know that the last/2nd last penalties only apply in fields of 11 or more as pnts go down to tenth..
Also cant see a reason why the points for fifth in a G2 wouldn,t be awarded. Cant see any mention of one excluding the other.
First round is going to be a challenge to select any horses in Melbourne as they run on the Sunday, and it looks like that the stable will be locked from Saturday (can’t find anything to the contrary), meaning you are buggered if any horses are scratched. There is 3 group races on the card too.
This may also be an issue on 25/26 October (Cox Plate weekend), given stable would be locked out on the Friday
And the Underwood Stakes with the cheapest horse available [if starts] @225K. Guineas prelude looks to be 100k for the cheapest, and the 1000 Guineas prelude the same. Can only see about 20 horses nominated in the group races that are priced under 100k. A real headache for team balance first week. Nominations extended for a couple of races until 10am today but I think we still have the fields by Wednesday afternoon.
I have sent them an email about these potential issues and will share if they get back to me.
Cox Plate weekend is the real headache as you would need to select most of your horses before lockout on Friday night who run on the Saturday. Friday night really only has the Manikato Stakes. You may want to select one in that race, but the other 9 are more than likely to come from Saturday’s fields, meaning potential scratchings which you won’t be able to do anything about

So as I thought if you want to select a horse which races Sunday you need to take a gamble that it does not get scratched as lockout is first race Saturday.
Same will apply Cox Plate weekend with lockout first race Friday night, for the meeting on the Saturday.
Makes it just that bit harder. At least there is only a 8 horse field for the Golden Rose and a $50k horse gets a run.
Beware of last/2nd last for a G1. – $50k ,-$25k. Also -$25k for last in other group races.
So might have to boil it down to 6 . 😉

Everyone is going to end up having similar stables. Unfortunately this game isn’t about racing knowledge. It’s about picking 3 yr olds in the group races. I know it’s the first season but they need to do something about the pricing of horses. It’s impossible to have any of the older proven group horses. I can’t see this changing as the amount of $$$ we can make each week is minimal. Still I’m enjoying the whole concept of fantasy racing.
I have looked at running an npr in the later rounds if cash gen is poor. Picking the ( C ) G1 winner will be tough and cash gen the keys for me
Picking a $50k horse is solid
Frees up cash for elsewhere
Cant lose money if last or 2nd last as min price
Will pick up points at least with ten or less runners
Poor officiating cruel another team ..

yeah been reading the back an forth on it… most ex-footy players calling it BS, most commentator journos saying it good… Part I dont understand none of them discuss is in what world does a 13 hitup 40 tackle Jake run down a 9 run 10 tackle Gagai unless hes deliberately slowing down running him off the ball in the first place. I think the obstruction rule is the one that’s ruining the game.
How many times have we seen poor defensive reads cost attacking teams tries, because the defender just falls over after grabbing the wrong player.
just looking into a few races , I think someone like gem song at 275K is value compared to other horses prices. Also in the pendant someone like dyslexic in a 7 horse field is priced at 200k cheaper than a few others. Both in G2 races , at this stage it might be worth trying to pick winner’s in any of the 16 meetings rather than load in G1 races . That team posted by COG via an article seems top heavy with a hap G1s but if you nail the G2 or G3s it could work out nicely… Read more »
Agree mate. I’ve covered 8 races instead of loading up on G1’s.
Have 1 in the Underwood, and 3 in the Golden Rose. 1 horse in 6 other races. Think that’s balanced.

The hard part selecting horses in Melbourne is that you are putting your faith in them not being scratched OTB
I prefer a horses odds of not being scrathed than a coach making late changes lol
I rather see rolling lockout for racing which would allow for late changesd before every race.
And your prize money added after correct weight. That would sort some out.
Hard to justify 200k for Dyslexic, considering there’s considerably greater value elsewhere. If you’re spending that sort of money on a G2, you’d want it to at the very least meet the value of a winner in a G3, and in that field (Enticing Star and Champagne Cuddles), it’ll be hard-pressed to finish in the top-3.
275k for Gem Song is definitely value in the Shannon Stakes, but not necessarily value against others in G1 and G2 races. Plus, with Avdulla on board (yuck!), that’s at least 25k extra on top of the unders (or overs) too.

Couple of jockeys I noticed that will ride at both Sydney and Melbourne this weekend, K McEvoy , J McDonald, H Bowman and T Berry [could be more] just those are named on mounts. Think there will be some additions to the overall stable squad as there is a scratching in the Rose and Groundswell is 1st emergency and not on the list yet. Have been interested in him and a few others that are yet to get a price rating.

7 of his 13 rides are under 10/1.
And I have nine of them in the first 5 of betting and 4 of those in G2 races. 1 in a G1 and 1 in a Listed race. Boom or bust.

Yes, at last count I have 27 horses not assigned prices for the G1’s through to the Listed race. Didn’t bother checking any further. Some have come through so maybe Thursday will be better.

Dalasan , Quick Thinker and Dabiyr all have good chances in their respective G3 races and all priced at $175K. You could buy every horse in the 1000 Guineas Prelude G2 bar one for that money. That one horse though [$225K] is the highest rated horse in the field, at least 12 ratings points higher than the next runners [$175K and below] but priced as the 4th favorite. Horses in the Golden Pendant and Shannon Stakes priced to high, would require a rejig. Me, I would probably go Dyslexic and one of the above into 2 horses in the 1000… Read more »

That high entry price for the G2’s is a bit of a roadblock. Quite keen on the G3’s picks.
If I were to downgrade a horse it would most likely be one of my Underwood ponies as the rest wont release enough cash. First world problems though lol.

Next week is no better so far. Epsom horses pricy Metropolitan same, some relief in the Darley Flight stakes [all Syd G1’s] Haven’t done Melbourne yet but they have The Turnbull G1 which will be pricey I would think then between the 2 meetings 4G2’s and 4 G3’s for the upper end points. Looks like at least 2 for the Darly a must.
Would love a race filter in stats. It would save a ton of work going here and there. SR >Epsom Noms with pricing

You get the lot again Occy, chuck the team out and pick 10 newies. Emeralds is nominated, $50K in the Darley Flight stakes G1. Top price $175K but only 12 priced out of a nominated 68 horses.
Yeah you get another $2M, but if you only spend way $1.7M this week you will have that extra $300 for next week, and given there is more G1 and G2 it would help.
Pretty sure I read that in the rules, plus anything you gain from G1 winners…sound right ?

Actually you aren’t guaranteed another $2M next week, you get that as the starting bank, then you can either gain or lose cash, so you could have less than $2M to start with next week
You can get that from the futures markets at the TAB sites. Try Tattsbet/UBet then if you get onto the punters page select Odds Comparison and they have the horse with current prices for that race. There is also a forum that has some chat on SC Racing. GL.
Noticed this being mentioned on a SC racing forum. To compact horses racing on the weekend go into Racing, select Classic, select Horses, select Filters select, Selected to Race they are all there with green tag.. Simples so much easier to locate them.

The problem with horses is the favs won’t always win , great stable on paper but to me it looks like an outsider or 2 might be needed to get that edge. it is a solid stable though

Yes Yes Yes is an interesting one, one im looking at . As this stage i still dont think its best to get too many in 1 race my view at the moment is if 3rd and 4th in a G1 one get you 24 and 18pts it might be better to aim for the G3 handicap type . Only trade I ended up doing there was turfing Dyslexic for Dabiyr. So if he wins the G3 then its worked. Cheers for your advice man

While yes, favourites don’t always win, you should be looking at value. If you feel the favs you’ve loaded up on offer the best value, I wouldn’t go switching your stable up just because you have too many of them.
I will be looking at horses who shorten overnight as thats all the indicators we will have

While Pandemic does give you more cap to work with, I don’t know if he’s worth it given he’ll only max out at 18 points in a tricky field.

The Chosen One is a good replacement for Dyslexic if you want more G1 spread (especially since the majority will only have one in the Underwood). I’m trying to find a way to fit him in, but I don’t know if it’s worth drastically changing my stable.
What is everyone’s thoughts on the 1000 Guineas? I want to pick two, but the problem is, I can’t settle on any. Missile Mantra is sticking out the most, but I don’t know if I can justify spending an extra 25k over Tenley, Flit, and Snapdancer. Then there’s Saone who’s only 125k.
Even worse that lockout is today and we won’t be able to follow the money.
I think it’s a tough race given the rail is out 6 metres, which normally favours horses on the speed.
Missile Mantra will settle back in the field, as will Flit.
Then there is the lockout today and any scratchings obviously effect your point scoring ability
In saying that it will be hard not to take the chance on Flit given its SuperCoach price

I have McEvoy with 6 rides Saturday 6 Rides Sunday [12]. McDonald 6 Saturday 6 Sunday [12], T Berry 7 Saturday 3 Sunday [10] T Clark 6 Saturday None Sunday [6]. That was last night and think only Berry lost one to scratching Sunday.

He [Clark] has the best rides [pricewise] Saturday from McDonald T Berry and McEvoy IMO, then on Sunday McEvoy has rides at $9.00, $41.00 $31.00 $5,50. $19.00 and $19.50. McDonalds are $31.00 $10.00 $71.00 $23.00 $26.00 and $7,50. Berry $19.00 $13.00 and his $31,00 pop was scratched. Clark could end up top point scorer with just todays mounts. I have gone Mc Donald he has 2 on Sunday I think might place at least, Groundswell and Military Zone.
