Deanie’s Captains Calls – Round 12

Indigenous round is upon us. What a round of footy we had last week. The Cows put the sword to the Storm. How good was it to see the stadium pretty much full late Saturday afternoon. The Cows are up and about! They do have another huge test this Friday night in the early game up against the defending premiers. Game of the round. How will it work for captains though?

I am going to keep it short and sweet this week as I am battling COVID. My energy levels are at an all time low, as is my team in one of my private leagues Waatthh Jesssitthh, where I am currently sitting last. Bloody hell. Let’s get into it for Round 12.

CAPTAINS

Most weeks we talk about the A Grade guns and this week they are all standout captain choices in Round 12. The A-Grade guns are of course Nathan Cleary, Nicho Hynes, Isaiah Papali’i and Ryan Matterson. These guys pick themselves this week. Keep it simple everyone. Pick ‘n stick.

VICE CAPTAINS / POD SELECTIONS

Damien “the Cookie Monster” Cook

With a five-round average of 91, scored 81 last week and averaging 71PPG, he is going pretty well at present, and the Cookie Monster will want to have a huge game here before Freddy names his NSW squad on late Sunday afternoon. Up against the Wests Tigers who aren’t going well but did enough to get over the Bulldogs, the Rabbitohs need Cook to step up and have a blinder here. It’s fair to say the Rabbitohs have been underwhelming and performing below expectations…he’s due.

Zac “the Joker” Lomax

Scored 93 points last week against the Warriors. Up against the Bulldogs this Sunday afternoon at 2pm. The Doggies are really struggling, and Lomax could be throwing try assists to Ravalawa for fun. Goal kicking duties will also add to his overall tally of points. Definite shout out.

Kotoni “Footsies” Staggs

Against the Titans and fair to say their coach is under the pump. Staggs has a blinder here and pretty much guarantees his spot in Origin Game 1. Scored another 82 last week against the Knights. Scores generally well at Suncorp and has laid down a 121 game against them in 2020. He’s a sneaky VC option this weekend.

ONE FROM LEFT FIELD

Anthony “Magic Milf” Milford

Watched the game last Thursday night and Milford first up from a long spell was pretty good. Was not the shell of the player he was at the Broncos. Scored 43 points, I know, not a great score but he showed enough to me to say he’ll be much better second up. He’s a bold selection this weekend but sometimes you have to make a big call.

AVOID

Selwyn Cobbo

I’ll put the avoid on Selwyn Cobbo this round. I’d be stunned if he lays down another 130-point game on Friday night. Don’t go chasing points.

Cam “Great Lines” Munster

In the last two weeks he has gone for 49 and 37. A shell of himself right now and so are the Storm. Goes below 50 points this week. Manly will stand up without Tommy.

Bold Selections

Zaaki goes around again this Saturday as the Doomben races were called off last Saturday due to a heavy 50 track. A ten-race card at Eagle Farm. Brisbane get out to Eagle Farm on Saturday and see a champion go round. Demolishes his rivals and picks a cool bonus of $250k.

No doubt I will be getting cabin fever very soon, but it is what it is. Enjoy all the footy games this weekend.

DeaniesBeanies

Another North Queenslander, LayK's roots lie in Townsville but unlike the Cows recently, is charging up the (SuperCoach) ladder.

Lomax throwing TA to Rava is a bold statement Deanie considering Zac struggles to get any ball . Rava hasn’t had a try from Lomax since rd1 !
Thanks for making me laugh .

Funny how sometimes it doesn’t work out how you thought… “ Cam “Great Lines” Munster

In the last two weeks he has gone for 49 and 37. A shell of himself right now and so are the Storm. Goes below 50 points this week. Manly will stand up without Tommy.” … Munster 106 points.
