Rumours of this site’s demise seem to be premature. Welcome back lads.

Spitty

Just a note mate, but if you’re not logged in to the site it looks absolutely dead. Its only after you log in that the recent comments section comes up and there’s any type of formatting to the articles on the page. It might be something to address if you want to bring in new people or the lapsed ones like myself

OnTheBus

My winfield cup league has been filled , if anyone else wants to join my other league OTB 598875 , good luck

rockafella

I’m in OTB … had a year off the chat room

OnTheBus

Hey mate, good luck

tigertragic

I am up for a challenge

Temple Guard

Hi Mate
Somebody jumped ship in the Winfield Cup League, could you re-advertise the code…. I haven’t written it down in my notes, otherwise I would have advertised it myself 🙂

OnTheBus

Hey mate , didn’t notice that. League code is 399770 for anyone interested in last spot

All about the right PODS

Great work guys!

Mr Perfect

Tedesco is full

OBUBillyGoats

Excellent! Let’s rip in lads!

Just built my first tentative team and I hate it.

Here we go!!!

Happy 2023 SC Peeps!

magee

In, thanks mate

tigertragic

So what is everyone’s tactics this year now that there are byes in place? For me, seriously considering having 1 or 2 players from each club, hopefully to save trades. Still keeping in mind keepers and rookies. Looking at starting with 9 to 10 “keepers”.

The Pretender

I wouldnt overthink it – just dont have more than 4 guys, particularly keepers, from one club.

The Pretender

Has anyone got the link to the SCTalk discord?

AJW

Would love it myself – but am content with SC Hub: Seems to be a lot of us o’er there, too!

The Pretender

What is SC Hub? I would prefer to stay here, but I am open to anywhere thats active.

AJW

It’s a discord group – lots of people talking about it here last year so I decided to give it a go – very similar vibe to SC Talk and some similar folk there. It doesn’t replace SC Talk (who could ever replace JT, Lakester and Wenin??? With the added advantage of Alex and Stilesy!) but complements it. I think you can find them on other social media – gives you an idea how to get there.

Pool Man

Hi Pretender, we’re happy to send you an invite to SC Hub discord. We will be going public soon were invites aren’t required but for now as AJW said you can find SC Hub on socials or myself on twitter @PoolManSC1 and I’ll send you an invite. Please note as AJW said it doesn’t replace SC Talk (who could ever replace JT, Lakester and Wenin??? With the added advantage of Alex and Stilesy!) but complements it. There are many good Supercoach outlets who work together. For example, along with other sites SC Hub will be supporting and advertising the SC… Read more »

OnTheBus

we have a discord too , if you like to join . SS i can send you a link

moorey

Did you get a link?
I can give you one, is it ok with admin to share here.
As AJW said, nothing can replace this awesome site but the SCHub discord is also a great resource.
I don’t think SCTalk have a discord atm.

Id be keen to join if there is a code/link

larks

Early days I know but I’d appreciate some guidance – A. Crichton/Munster/Brimson ($13,900 ITB) or Cam Murray/Burton/Drinkwater ($142,900 ITB)? cheers

AJW

Personally would favour the 2nd choice mate, as it seems overall more of a balanced pick – but as you know, it could go either way! 😉

larks

cheers appreciate your thoughts

Pool Man

I too would go the 2nd option. Angus really stepped up a gear when Keary returned for those last 7 games last year. With his ceiling and those first two games you could consider him over Cam. Souths have a harder draw to start so Cam may not get the attacking stats that Angus may get first up and Crichton is cheaper and could increase while Cam may decrease in value. It may also allow you to go Angus/Munster/Drinkwater. I haven’t done the maths to know.

Jimmy Barnes

Big thank you for making UK leagues, be nice to go against other people who miss the 4am team news on a Saturday and Sunday morning!

AJW

Joined it myself – am a bit like the ‘Catalan Dragons’ member of the squad, as an Aussie based in the French Outback! Looking forward to it! I love watching NRL at breakfast of a weekend! It’s great stuff – getting up early and having league with your toast and coffee! 😉

Jimmy Barnes

Agree! Since being back in the northern hemisphere for the last seven years, captaining Turbo and watch him pummel the Titans (always the Titans) at Sunday breakfast has been one of life’s greatest joys!

My team is called I Can’t Spake! after this classic commentary:

and I’m in the first UK league

AJW

Hahaha – good stuff mate! Am a Sea Eagles fan (have been since I was a kid in the 70s ) – seeing Turbo carve up on his day is a thing of beauty!
My team is called Numbats in the belfry (all one word unfortunately cos of lack of space) – after the more boring version of ‘Numbat City’ for past few years (see my photo there!) Good luck this year mate! 😉

AJW

Hahaha – that video really cracked me up mate! Love the commentator’s warm northern accent – over the top! 😉

Randy

Welcome back guys!!!! Quick one, are you guys knocking together the Mega Guide this year? Pre-season planning isn’t the same without it!!!

Pool Man

It will be and like you said, pre-season planning isn’t the same without it. Get behind the boys and grab a copy when it comes out.

Randy

You guys are legends!!!!!

MyYfH8sSC

Welcome back everyone. so good to see this site back up and running!

MyYfH8sSC

My plan is to use no trades in the first two rounds (I can’t believe I’ve never tried this method before). What could possibly go wrong? I’m starting Nicho and Manu then in Rd 4 Nicho becomes Cleary and in Rd 5 Manu will become Holmes. I can’t see Teddy starting before Rd 3 so hopefully he’s another grab in Rd 5. I’ll risk 4 Roosters for that first game!

Temple Guard

That would be a very Brave Move… for me it’s every year the same…. busy trading early to fix all the mistakes I made with my original squad haha

MyYfH8sSC

Agreed, i usually trade heavy to start with. I suppose this year we have almost two trades every round too. No doubt someone will have a major injury early on. Planning trades in advance has never faiked surely!

Temple Guard

Good thing is… we are entitled to change our original strategy 🙂
Best of Luck for 2023 Mate…. Hope You will go well

Spitty

Usually no trades early is the best way, but usually injuries or getting the wrong cheapies stops it happening.

luigi

i like the thinking behind nicho, cleary and manu, holmes

Janty

No Rate my Team thread?

magee

What about Pimp My Team?

Spitty

1) Is there a pimp my team yet?
2) I took the year off last year and now coming back, I’m interested to know how people use the trade boosts and did you learn any lessons last year? I’m guessing the new bye rules will have a massive impact on this

alexjc

Gonna be great when SC Talk Alex is the #1 league

Pool Man

#2 you mean Alex. Pool Party will be #1 league, haha,

MyYfH8sSC

So many cheap 2RF looking great value. They are all 2RF only (except Stone -I have more than enough HOK). I assume Hopgood will get FRF dual if named at 13. The others being
1) Blore /Matamua -depending whether Bateman starts at Lock or 2RF
2) Cartwright /Doorey -2RF at Parra
3) Gos at The Cows could get the vacant 2RF.
4) Stone should see good minutes from the bench as Gilbert is tipped to then move into FRF when he comes on.

Rizza

Hopgood won’t get FRF by playing lock, as an example Yeo and Murray both play lock and they are only ever 2RF. If Hopgood does play lock then that’d probably mean the edge forwards would be Matterson & Lane.
Gos at cows would only have that spot for a couple of weeks as Luki is aiming to be back around rounds 4-6 and moving forward I see Luki & Nanai as the starting edge forwards.

MyYfH8sSC

Damn, I really need a FRF not named Mad Jack or Keppie.

tigertragic

Carty is a trap. Matterson is suspended and Carty will make way when he returns. I think Hopgood will than go to and edge, or Matterson will go there. Doorey will be lucky to make the 17. Bateman is best as an edge forward.

MyYfH8sSC

Matterson was awesome off the bench last year, why would they change that system? He does miss the first three weeks doesn’t he? Gos is terrible, but at his price 3 or 4 price rises isn’t too bad in that Cows awesome draw. Who knows about Bateman -when he was last here he was 2RF, which was some years ago. He is tipped to play lock, but if he, as you are so sure of, plays 2RF then Matamua is the cheapie -same price as Blore (Edge only).

ant406

Carty definitely a trap, considering he’ll be lucky to make the bench rd1. It will be Doorey or Momoisea on the edge and Matto will stay coming off the bench when he returns

BustedCashews
