I reckon one of the biggest conundrums of the pre season is going to be about the two Souths halves and will Taaffe take back the HB position from Ilias when Latrell is ready to go in R3. Anybody seen Souths training? I wonder if Taaffe has been doing some training at half as well as FB? James Segeyaro to Manly? Not a bad pick up for the Sea Eagles as they don’t have a back up rake at this point apart from the young bloke Gordon Chan Kum Ton but he’s only on a dev deal. Sege would go… Read more »
I think if you are starting 2 cheapies at the half position then grabbing both is an option, they seem to be the best 2 cheapies and if cleary is out for 4 weeks then falls could be a decent shout if he gets the no.7.
Someone like metcalf could end up handy if he grabs a centre spot and with the new dual changes he would end up centre/half in round 6.
Still early days so no point thinking about it for a few more weeks
If Cleary is possibly out for 4 weeks I still couldn’t go with Falls in my team ! He is very tempting but might not play enough games to make money fast enough .
Apart from Ilias and Taafe there isn’t many good cheapies available at HB and then there is the question who retains his starting position when Latrell comes back in rd3?

I’m thinking that I’ll start this season with Munster and Grant on the pine round 1 and will start with Cleary and TT. Just had a look at the most expensive players in SC and I have only two of them in my lineup.
Thanks for the reply mate. Good you guys are feeling better, looking forward to the mega guide

Thoughts on these new Trade Boosts we get for 5 rounds… Do you use them early to get your team sorted and bring in those money makers you missed on the first TLT ? Do you save them for Covid Ins and Out (read somewhere that 80% of NRL players have already had Covid) Does this mean they are less likely to get it again ? Do you use them over the BYE periods ? Or save them for the back end and cash in big time on any remaining Cash cows you have and get those FIT must haves… Read more »
Man I would like to say hold them for the back end when they prob are more valuable and could do more for me in either ranking or h2h but I’ll prob end up using early to fix team
I think definitely 1 after Rnd 2 before price rises, and prob 1 each before each bye and then the other 2 for when you have multiple players out with covid (bound to happen at some stage).

Looking at ctw at the second tier level around $500k. Rank these in order
Manu
Thompson
Kelly
Lomax
Aitken ( if in centre)
Thanks man. I just thought with the time off that he’s had he might be healthy enough to punch out some minutes off the bench and he is very cheap. Has anyone seen him training?
Yep and you saw Leniu much more recently than that and how did that work out for Supercoach players. My question was serious and didn’t deserve shit from you.
Because he is someone who could have offered a constructive comment about the likelihood of the time off helping Fifita’s chronic injuries that caused his form to drop off a cliff but instead decided just to take the piss.
I am actually a fan of the doc in real life. Far too many elite players have a glorious youth followed by a painful middle age and a sad and confused old age. The doc has contributed significantly to changing that.

Big NAS returned to training for the storm. All clear to play.
Some unlucky news for Raiders fans, Harley Smith-Shields has bee ruled out for the season with injury. Great young player and really had something about him. Only young though so there’s always next year.
I can see the Tigers really chasing the Cows hard now for a 2RF!

I’m looking at the Warriors backs due to their early draw – there has to be some tries there! Thoughts on Rocco Berry? Would probably use as a move against Coates who will be highly owned.
Teddy -is 500K cheaper and his surgery not likely to affect him to much, How would a booze ban affect Turbo? He should be banned from sprinting down the Corso or showering (whichever one that caused his re-injury.

I have seen a few teams running hastings ilias at 5/8 for budget reasons ie this gives money to make a strong team else where. (pappy teddy) Anyone think of doing Randall, marscke at Hooker? as another option. have to have Randell. i currently have mahoney. Randell, not sure Grant plays 80 and missing round one. Hasting was a reasonable SC player as a rookie should be better for his experience overseas, also thoughts on George Burgess who was an SC gun at one stage. not sure if running both hooker and 5/8 options suggested here gives money to run… Read more »
Yeah it’s a case of pick your position that you are not going to be happy with to start and pray like hell it doesn’t hurt you too badly. Mine is Hooker atm with Randall and Clark
Going cold on Paps, any thoughts on Matt Dufty? Managed an avg of 65 and 68 in a poor Dragons outfit the last few years and only 1% owned. Will now be playing behind a pretty potent pack in a team which should be playing some attacking footy. Also love the idea of Dufty following TPJ around. Has shown he has a great support game and can produce something out of nothing, and I am thinking he may be given some more opportunities in this Doggies team. Point to prove and in a contract year. Cowboys and Broncos to start… Read more »
Mate im a Doggies fan and I’d love to see it but we play Bronx, Cows then Manly, Storm, Panthers, Rabbits. In that time Paps has Tigers, Rabbits, Eels, Dogs, Raiders, Sharks. Paps also goal kicks and is only $95k more expensive – he could outscore Dufty by 300-400 by rnd 6 and at that ownership its gonna hurt.
Last year the 12 Jersey at Panthers averaged 65 mins, 5 80min games, 4 in 70s, 8 in 60s, 6 in 50s and a 41 – I rate Martin over Capewell but im not sure he gets 80. Sua basically played 11 80 min games for rabbits though, when Arrow started in the 12 he had mins of 42,44,48, 66,67,68. If Arrow starts I reckon he goes from 47 mpg in 21 to 65 mpg so prob avg 60-65. Martin avg 58 mpg last year for 49 ppg – if he gets 65 mpg prob avg 50-55. Ill be starting… Read more »

Barry Toohey confirmed on twitter that Kurt Mann will start the season at lock. Does that make him a solid option at ctw or 5/8 or will he be subbed off after 20 minutes?
Sue will be playing prop so i don’t think he gets benched like watto.
crossland 5/8 and hooker so i’d say mann and sasagi play lock and can fill in for injuries at centre,5/8
Playing Sydney, Penrith & Manly first 5 weeks so might get touched up!

I’m happy with my team (Cleary, Haas, Teddy, and Papps) but gees the side looks so more rounded without Cleary. Anyway, my big issue is my two FRF reserves. Moeroa looks far less relevant with the NAS news )at least he is DPP) and nothing cheap looks like appearing. This has AE nightmare written all over it. Are people just nuffing their 4th FRF?
With the carnage last year showed us from the HIA rules and the spectre of Covid outs this year I am more focused on looking at players that are the next man up rather than potential AE issues.
I realised i can get SJ and Hastings for $200k less than Cleary, throw in his injury cloud and I think you can get more playable players in your 25 than having him in.
You raise a good point and I don’t know the answer. Mann is the perfect example though. What will SC do if Mann (5/8 + CTW) plays lock for the first 6 weeks. Does he become a 3 position dual, do they remove one of his other spots, or do they leave it as is? I feel it would be impossible to take away one of his current positions as teams would have him in 5/8 say, and if that position is removed it would become somewhat of a glitch. My gut feeling is that SC will say this new… Read more »
This is how it works so please read very carefully. I will type it very slowly. The game is live, so if you are dual you stay the dual that you have been assigned. If you have one position then you can be given another (DPP) at certain points in the season. So, Mann is already DPP CTW / 5/8. This means some people in their CTW’s and some will have in in their 5/8. Therefore, you can’t remove one of his positions as which one do you remove? He is already in people’s teams. If he only had 5/8… Read more »
If purely in a h2h cash comp and with the extra trades too start the season would it be wise to get Turbo now and a nuff and see if he goes bananas and gets a price rise or go Ted/Paps combo incase he tanks?
Definitely not! Turbo + Nuff is exactly the same as Teddy + Papps. Those starting with Teddy will be taking a hit elsewhere in their team so if he doesn’t fire then they will be in big trouble.

1 before rd3 to maximise price increases.
2 or 3 during origin
1 or 2 for those rounds when you just get smashed by injury & struggle to field 17.
Less focus on origin if H2H
Save them for injuries, ie you are plan two trades for the week than a gun goes down as well. that is when i would usethe3 trades

Lol, a lot of pain is a given. I’m playing SC
if you think hastings/illias can stay within range of munster/cody then its not a bad strategy.

Arrow (457k) vs Martin (428k)
Liam Martin playing 80, expecting average 55?
Do we think arrow plays 80 at second row? If he does thinking he could push 60 av with his ppm

sasagi is in the same boat. same dual and is training at lock.
Burton got 5/8 due to the coach saying he will be 5/8 , yet mann gets centre 5/8.
burton should be centre/half if thats the case, maybe someone knows the answer
He is already dual so there can not be any changes. You can only have a position added, not removed or replaced. He will remain a CTW / 5/8 dual..
the season hasn’t started though, they said they place players on which position they think the coach will play them .
so they should change it , this is the reason that was used with burton who played centre and half but was given 5/8 and no dual.
need to be consistent , if they put them from last seasons positions then burton should get dual, if not then mann should change.
just my 2 cent’s as they seem to pick and choose what they want to do
