Have gone really cheap in the CTWs, as I’ve never been a fan of spending big there… any thoughts?

Smith (Havili)

Bromwich, Lodge (Evans, Kikau)

Gallen, Taumalolo, Surgess,
Brown, Cartwright (Leilua)

Thurston (Croker)

Johnson, Watson

Hayne, Hiku, Kennar, Milne
(Katoa, Isaako, Doueihi)

Tedesco, Trbojevic

Good side. After seeing your side and a couple of others posted recently I’m starting to think cheapies ctws are the way to go. Plenty of keeper guns in the backrow and spine. Time for a revamp of my team for the 1000th time.

only problem if you go that cheep and they don’t produce $$$ you have no way of getting a decent ctw say 500K in there, I thought I went cheep with 2 decent 550K and 500K CTW’s and the rest rookies, but at least If one fails or both fail I could trade to the next best thing. I guess thats the price you pay for Teddy/Turbo.

Good side, I think you can probably leave this until TLT. Might need to buff up the CTW a little depending on the cheapies that are available in Round 1. I like Manners. It’s a bit of a risk, but he will probably be a bit of a POD to start so will set you apart from everyone running Gal/Jurbo/Lolo

If Mannering is named at lock, I might swap Lolo or Gallen out for him. But if he’s named to start on the edge, I won’t be touching him.

Even if named to start the season at lock, I won’t trust that to still be the case a month into the season.

Who are the best Warriors to pick in your eyes, Spitty?

Spitty

atm I’ve got Tohu, Hiku and Paasi. I think those are the good value ones. Also considering Isaac Luke after a bad year last year.

Any truth behind Twright to start in center (Dwalker) and then move to 5/8? I read it a few pages back but wondered if I was seeing things? My thinking if true what is the point of Croker?

grande212

Think its more of an option IF croker cant perform
We’ll have 4 weeks untill Dwalker is back to deal with it

Gregjm

I wouldn’t think so. You wouldn’t have one of your halves train in the centres all preseason just to cover a few games, especially when Manly have other centre options. Barrett has also said he thinks Wright is natural centre not a 6. He has also said he is probably another year off 1st grade. So, I doubt Wright even fills in Walkers spot. I would think Matt Wright or Brad Parker would be the preferred options.

Please pick the best option

1. Trbojevic+hiku+papalli
2. Trbojevic+mitchell+murray
3. Ponga+hiku+mannering

1. Easily.

John

Any reason why?

Murray-papalli or uele – scott

A Flock Of Sea Eagles

Turbo and Papa are proven 70+ type-scorers, and Hiku should average 40-45, netting you 100+K. Now, if Mitchell is handed the kicking duties, and Murray plays big minutes – two BIG ifs – then I’d go #2, but at this stage it’s #1, quite comfortably.

What about mansour instead of mitchell

Qldian
Member

really depends on who plays inside of Mansour this year. Peachey and Blake are ball hogs

BOB
Member

If you go Mansour over Mitchell I would choose 1. Mitchell is the reason I opted for 2. I think Mitchell tons up a couple of times in the first 4 weeks.

Mitchell’s only worth picking if he gets the kicking duties, otherwise, there are better value options out there. Plus there’s the likelihood he may see less ball this season with Cronk on the right side, and Tedesco taking away runs inside the 20.

BOB

He can’t kick and makes no difference to me. I’m no Mitchell fan as a person but I think he will explode this season. Leading try scorer for mine.

A Flock Of Sea Eagles

I strongly disagree. I don’t think he comes close to being the top try scorer, especially with a ball-dominant half on the other side of the field, and a ball-dominant FB. Tupou will be capitalizing on Cronk’s kicks, and general team backline movements more than Mitchell will. I mean how many times has a centre ended up being the top try scorer in the last 20 years?

Plus it’s going to take them a while to build combinations/chemistry, as well.

BOB

I differ again, the beauty of SC chat we all have different opinions. They won’t be a right side dominated team. Cooper will be doing the sweeping plays linking up with Keary, with all eyes on Teddy a quick ball to Mitchell and try time. No centre will stop him one on one.

I’m happy to pick Mitchell without the goal kicking. Another year older and add Cronk and Teddy to the team, he should have a great year.

Kicking or not , Mitchell is the next superstar . First year with keary at 5/8 they ran amuck even topou had a decent avg. add ted and Mitchell will thrive , I think that’s who the roosters needed to sign so Mitchell doesn’t get too comfortable . Time will tell but he is a better player than ponga imo

Gosh, it sounds like I’m about the only one who isn’t keen on Mitchell. Ha.

The interestingly scary thing about picking roosters outside backs is they’ve got quality everywhere they probably share the points around limiting all their max scoring potential. I started with Mitchell, but thought it’s just as likely Tupou nabs all the tries, or Joey Manu has a breakout year – it’s a tough call!

I think guys are enamored by his potential, and hopeful thinking has got them equating that to production this season. Not really thinking about all the other factors involved.

2 easily. After the first 4 weeks I think it will be way in front points wise.

For some reason I’m starting to get cold feet on Carty and Cameron Murray.
Thinking Arrow and Carty could share a lot of lock if James stays in the 2nd row.
With Murray, Farah or Sutton could take some time off Murray if Surgess stays in the 2nd row with Crighton.
Early days yet, but can’t shake that feelin.

Murray’s a definite no for me. Far too much speculation around the minutes he’ll be getting, like you said, both Crichton and Surgess will most likely play big minutes on the edges, Seibold is opting for an 80-min hooker, so there’ll be four bench players potentially taking minutes off three forwards. You’d have to think that besides the props, Murray would be next in line for a cut in minutes, especially if they want more playmaking in the middle (Sutton/Farah). Add to the fact that if Reynolds is not fit for the opening rounds, you’d think Seibold would want Sutton… Read more »

Definitely need Carty everyone has him and he’s the type of player that can go massive at his price he’s definitely worth putting in your team. If he flops everyone is in the same boat.

Even in f Carty starts surely he’s a round 3 pick up at best?

Qldian
Member

The problem of waiting until round 3 for Carty is the opportunity of other cows or mids that suprisingly gunned it in the first 2 rounds. You don’t really want to waste a chance to get Carty then and miss out on another cow etc.

Murray looks like a classic old school 80min lock to me. I think Burgess moves into the frontrow at stages and plays 70min, with Sutton taking his spot on the edge. Turner might steal some minutes off Murray. The talk is doueihi will be the utility, if he is I think Murray is a good bet.

Carty might be a NPR for a while, but he’s so cheap and you would think he eventually earns a starting spot. It is the Titans, they do know how to lose players through injury.

Interesting Pods – my thoughts are Tapau and Cordner probably rely on attacking stats more than other guys in these positions – CTW options could all go big but are big risks – don’t know what you’ll get from all 3 of the bigger names. You’re away ahead of the curb if it pays off though!
